I was preparing to do the same, so that makes it a double-warning.

My 2 cents.
I've owned three 70-200 2.8's until about a year ago: The Tammy, A Sigma EX DG APO, and the Pentax DFA. I still own two of them and the Pentax is not one of those.
I loved the near immediate and silent focus, and had zero complaints about the images.Performance is amazing. But for the slim advantage it has over what I get from the Sigma in quality and speed, the way heavier Pentax wasn't worth the trade-off. I found myself leaving it at home too often, so off to a new home it went.
So what about the Tamron? It's not up to the standards of either the older Sigma or the newer Pentax, IMO. But it is a bit lighter than the other two, and easier to find. By the way, there are several versions of the Sigma, and I've seen more than one mention that the EX DG APO non-HSM is the best of the lot

Pentax K28 3.5
I had expected it might have a very slight haze, but nope. Clean glass, and little evidence of use.

I dunno....
All things considered, my DSLR's have given me photos equal to or better than my a9, and more enjoyably. I'd also be remiss if I didn't say that Sony has its advantages for certain things.

I missed the part where he tried manually focusing. My only thought there is he may have Catch-in Focus on. Otherwise I'm at a loss.

If your lens ends up converted to screwdrive I believe it would then work. Mine has been, and I think I have that converter. If so, I'll check.

If you compare these to your older X-T2 +Rikenon samples, the older camera seems render a bit, I dunno... better? Perhaps it's just a difference in settings or subject.

K1-II with a DFA50, converted to B&W?
When I take my K1m out for a series, it's with commitment. I've mentioned before that at times restricting myself to B&W only has made me far more cognizant of shadow and light and less reliant on "oohh, look at the red!" in composing images or recognizing a photo op. Before getting a couple of converted cameras, my black-and-white compositions were too often an attempt at rescuing a color image that didn't work, and worse, I often didn't understand why. Now I feel like I'm getting there.

Prepping for a vacation at the end of this month, and realizing that my three camera bags are big. Like good for a camera, Speedlight and 3 lenses (at least) big. My grab-n-go for the past few years has been a LowePro Passport Sling II, still too big for convenience travel, and maybe not as protective as it could be. I don't like using backpacks in the city since they're all too bulky; my two are no exception. I have nothing small for carrying a spare lens or two, a battery, SD cards, lens cloth, and "misc" like a room card and brochures with me on an urban jaunt, and I really want to be forced to carry light. It's a vacation. ;)
So this weekend I have three arriving, and keeping just one: A WANDRD Rogue 6L Sling, a Peak Design Everyday 3L, and a NOMATIC 8L (which does NOT look like an 8L to me). I'm hoping the small Peak Design is all I need, but I'll know by Monday.

I may have at least one pair from every high-end hiking shoe brand.
After years of using different shoes and boots out on trails I would always end up grabbing an old pair of Keen Targees for mixed pavement/grass/dirt walking. Solomons' are great for off-road walks and with plenty of options depending on the need, but I've been no fan of them on concrete or pavement.
BUT....
Last year, I tried an unconventional hiking shoe, the Adidas Terrex Free Hiker. They can be a pain-in-the-butt putting them on the first few times, but man-o-man, I can walk from the trail to the sidewalk and in between for hours and still be comfortable. I love them so much that I have three pairs now in various colors, plus a waterproof version for wet spring trails. The Free Hikers tend to roll you into the next step, making them effortless to walk in. Oh, and they look good. :)
Do yourself a favor and at least try a pair. They might be like wearing your favorite foot-hugging slippers once you get past the putting-on.

I agree! I got a "used, acceptable" Pentax 15-30 for $500. The lens came still sealed inside the original box with all paperwork. It was never used even once.

Like when a 2300 gram lens shows up on the doorstep a day early, and she's the one who picks it up to bring in?

Oh, well that's because you tried to use it on a Pentax. Put it on a Nikon or Canon and there's no AF noise at all. :)

Oh, I have more to go. :) I wish you could see my studio!
No, I'm still a diehard Pentaxian.
I had two K3III's and only needed one, and have a K-1 Mono, a K-1II, and a K-70. The lenses I've moved this month are because I've replaced them with the HD versions. I still have some overlap lenses and some leftover Nikon Z stuff I'll get to.
It makes Momma happy when stuff leaves the house at least as fast as new stuff enters.
