I've been working on a smallish home studio in a spare bedroom and to keep the heat down have decided to use a mix of natural light and continuous LED studio lights (pair of RPS CoolLed 100 and one RPS 20). So tonight I thought I'd take the time to adjust the white balance on my K-S2 for those evening photo sessions. Never used my Expodisc before but time to put it to work. How hard can it be?
Seemed pretty straight forward. Attached the disc, aimed it in the general direction of my primary light took a shot and proceeded to custom white balance. So far so good. Take a shot of a few items against my backdrop and there's a bluish cast. Ok, no prob. Just do it again since I obviously made some error. Same results. Go go my manual and double-check everything. Go to the Expodisc support page and read. Then try again. DANG IT!. Blue cast. After spending and hour and some minutes on this I decide to give a rest, maybe go thru the procedure tomorrow or maybe forget about it and take care of it in post as needed. (I have a color card chart)
Turned off the big light... Turned off the hair light.... turned off the overhead ceiling light... WHAT THE. . . I had the regular room lights on the whole time.
I knew I shoulda stopped at two Landsharks. :o
There's tomorrow.
