This is probably the same mangy fox who was hanging around over the winter. He seems to be hanging in but I really want to give him a bath and take him to a vet.

A sign of the season: the frogs in my neighbor's pond have emerged and launched--without hesitation--into carousing & debauchery.
I didn't, however, get any good shots of frogs in flagrante.

I was pretty excited when I spotted a fox soaking up sun in the back yard so I grabbed the M.Zuiko 300/f4 with the Oly 4/3 attached, stopped to check the battery, card and settings and quietly found a good vantage point on the porch. When it came into focus, my heart just sank--that animal is really in bad shape, poor thing. By the time I came back with a small piece of left-over pork to throw to it, it was gone. I doubt it's long for this world anyway.

I haven't see raccoons in the woods out back for a couple of decades (since I evicted a family of them from my attic) but perhaps there'll be more since I caught this couple in flagrante delicto in the beech tree down the hill.

Ok, none of these are really good photos but I think perhaps they chronicle the fledging of a red-tail hawk.
I spotted these two hawks flying over the valley a week ago and noticed that one had it's 'landing gear' down: it occurred to me that maybe it was a beginner.
The next day I saw a hawk sort of splayed out in the trees across the valley. I've seen big birds do that to dry out after a significant rain but we hadn't had a down-pour so I couldn't help but think, "crash-landing?"
Then, yesterday, on a dog-walk, I noticed what seemd to me to be a young hawk sitting on a snag in the rain being harrassed by a smaller bird (Blue-gray Gnatcatcher?)
Maybe these are encounters are unrelated but...
