I think the K5 wins. The K5II/s even more so. I found low-light ability of the K5II/s even better than the K3!

18 wires to unsolder, but very clear were they belong to.


The K-30 has a bit depth of 12 bits, the K5 has 15.

The low-light behaviour: Do you mean how AF behaves?
Both have -1 - 18 EV, it was the K5II and later the K-S2 which improved to -3 - 18 EV.

The K30 was only better in tungsten light which was a problem with the K5 but not the K5II anymore.

Fantastic work. Much more complicated than replacing a solenoid.


Because you have mentioned that you have not found any information on "the internet" about the full spectrum conversion of 'recent' Pentax cameras:

I found one for the K-30 on a Lithuanian website. I don't understand a word but the photos show a well documented process:
