I have the 12-24 and everything you say is correct. IQ is good although I've had my battles with CA with this lens, mostly with Photoshop ACR and Lightroom (Pentax supplied raw convertor is much better in this regard...must have built-in knowledge of the Pentax lenses).
Biggest issue is it just doesn't have the quality "feel" to go along with the IQ.
I was hoping you'd say that the DA* 16-50 was going to be head-and-shoulders above the 12-24 but it sounds like that's NOT what your saying:hmm:
I'm desparately looking for something to fill in the gap between the 12-24 and the DA* 50-135.....guess I'll keep looking.
