I tried both type 1 and type 3 (or type 2, not sure) grips.
Although the type 1 version was different to the original grip in many ways (much more so than the other one), I still preferred it for the better buttons and wheels.
Its biggest disadvantages is that the front wheel operates in the reverse direction compared to the camera.
I had a quick look whether I could fix the issue by swapping two wires internally, but unfortunately the part isn't super straightforwardly to access and there is only one cable of the flat type combining three flat (printed?) wires connected to the front wheel.
It may be just a matter of reversing the flat cable (if the ground is in the middle) and I guess with a bit of dedication it would be possible to get to the part, so I'm quite sure the fix is doable, but it isn't the 10min. job I was hoping it may be.
