I think most camera companies have abandoned 35mm film cameras. The difference with some of them is they didn't abandon the legacy, especially Pentax. I know very little about Leica other than it's always been too rich for my blood. Pentax however, for good or bad, has stuck with the K mount since it was introduced. Some call it a dinosaur that is going to become extinct. Some Newer lenses cannot be used on some film cameras. However, sticking with the K mount enables users to continue enjoying their 35 year old lenses as well as drooling over the new ones. I honestly think that has a lot to do with what keeps them going.
