I had a Vivitar 100 once and yes, it's a nice lens. Plenty sharp for macro work though I never tried it as a straight 100mm lens (probably fine there too). There are truthfully more macro options out there than one cares to count and sometimes being creative with what you have in the bag will get you a long way. I suggested the TC because it can also be used with other lenses. Each of my lenses has been mounted to it with some pretty respectable results. True macro results? Depends on what day you ask and if my macro nemesis has made its usual appearance. The TC is also half or less than the typical price of the 100 f3.5. Probably The Simplest way and least expensive way to do macro is a Reversing ring. About 6 bucks and you're ready to go.
A 50mm f1:1.2 reversed....

I saw in your other thread you are looking for macro. I also saw you have a M50 f1.7. Find yourself a Vivitar 2x Macro focusing teleconverter. The PK version would work but the PK/A version would better serve future purchases. That will give you a Very nice 100mm f3.4 1:1 macro lens and the converter doesn't completely suck as an extender either (most do). Depending on which one you get, a realistic price would be in the $30-$60 range.

120 film rolls typically have several inches of paper on each end to protect the film. The film is normally attached at the beginning of the roll and loose at the end of the roll. Unwind enough paper, and if the film was ever there, you'll find it. It might have been interesting to process the roll and see what was on it but I'm guessing it's completely fogged by now especially with the camera being opened multiple times.

This was a Buy it now but yes it was last week. I don't remember if there were any bids on it or not. It came with an original case which, I think this lens has lived its entire life in.
The Ebay out bid notices have never done me any good. They always came after the item ended.

With a 25mm thread.
I would recognize the Nikkor 50 anywhere. I have 2 of them... on photo enlargers.

When I bought the Vivitar 85 f1.4, the photos didn't show that it was a A version either, but it is.

Go for it. I've never seen Fungus grow on the blades. More likely someone else has been in there and tried to use a q-tip (ear bud?) or similar to clean the blades. That way, when you get another lens that needs opening, you'll have some (more) experience under your belt.

Yes, I understand how a mirror works. I'm just hoping this is a cheap alternative to an articulated screen (that I don't know WHY Pentax has not yet implemented) so I don't have to contort myself when doing off angle shots. I'll explain that someday but for now, I appreciate any info you can give.

This May help. It looks like the strap is actually just a half camera strap. The cloth type. When I was carrying one of these around I used a Neck strap for it. Long enough that the case could slip down the strap for use without having to be removed (and potentially forgotten and lost). Sort of like a lanyard used for carrying an ID card.

Once you get it mounted on the camera, how about a pictorial report? I've been mildly interested in one of these. I would particularly like to know how well it functions for manual focusing in Live View.

A K mount! I kind of wish sometimes I hadn't sold mine. I even had the 100mm bellows lens for it. The slide copier is pretty worthless with an APS-C camera.

Are you using 64bit Win7 or 32bit Win7? It is supposed to be backward compatible but the 64 is a little harder (impossible sometimes) to please with older stuff. I found this out with my screen calibrator.

You're going to drive the price of this lens sky high, Voytech... At least take some crappy pictures with it until I can score the lens. Great stuff here.

I've had a couple of those. Actually they are quite nice lenses. Even though I paid a lot of money for an FA*200, that FL just isn't one I use very much. The M200 is a nice way to get the FL in a prime without going broke doing so.
Enjoy it.

Spoken like someone who has lost auctions To a sniper. The reason for sniping and not putting in an early bid is to not give other bidders something to chip away at. It Really Is, just that simple.

One of the reasons it took me 3 1/2 years to find one is that I specifically wanted a K mount. I did see M42 versions as well as other mounts but for the price of the lens (M42 aside) I didn't want to do any modifications or have to fiddle with an adapter. Most of the M42 versions I saw were either beat up or way too expensive for my taste. If I'm not mistaken, the konica mount registration distance is too short to be adaptable to the K mount.
