You laugh! I've occasionally stuck my AF360FG onto of my GRII ... ;)
It... eh um eeh 'balances well'!! Or at least it doesn't tip over if you hold it real tight :p

The GRII works with my af360fg flash. Both in the hotshoe and triggered by the in can flash.

I don't miss the viewfinder on my GR II. Looking around the interwebz many, including those who bough hot shoe viewfinders, have come to the same conclusion. I shoot my GR mainly gangsta style which produces a different kind of photographs compared to my dslr. They have a more direct style due to the ergonomics and features. I like that it makes me take different photographs.

Have they reduced the contrast on the GR logo compared to the prototypes and the GR II? It looks like it from several recent photos of the camera. Good move if they have,

For me the GR II is the maximum size for an always bring. I find it a bit to big for trouser pockets. It goes down but it's neither comfortable, a good look nor a quick draw. So when without a coat/jacket I put it on a strap man bag style.

So smaller is better. With the GR II being so close to perfect perhaps the GR III nails it.

It's clear that sticking to a concept like the GR means making a lot of very hard choices regarding what goes in and what doesn't.
Making the lens lighter (less glass) because of the SR sound like a dangerous move! I would have hoped they would only ever change the lens if they managed to make a better one.

I'd really like to try this new camera. I'm shocked by the lack of + - rocker. Not bothered by the removal of the af switch. Those are the "only" removed buttons right? By replacing the 4-way with a wheel interesting things could happen. I don't think (really I hope not) the touch screen will be a requirement to use. The combined menu/ok button of the GR II is great, works completely intuitively for me. Hopefully the separated out menu button can be programmed otherwise it's wasted.

My niggles with the GR II interface are:

- The iso wiggle button thing is a bit mushy to the press. Better feedback on click would be nice
- When assigning say fn2 to change between single/burst it pops up a menu with a two choices including the active one. Binary choices should just be toggles.
- Again the iso wiggle button feels a bit odd when changing aperture or other features with a long list of options. Feels imprecise. The wheel might be great for speedy multi choice select if that's configurable.

I set pinpoint focus to the back button af and a wider focus for half shutter press. This is really nice as more precise shots can be taken with care whilst quickies will have better chance at focus.

That looks like a normal hot show cover? Am I missing something here?
