Thank you Jim - I am enjoying the fruits of my labors, nothing more! :ugh:

I am really pleased with how my images are now coming out in terms of the technical side of sharpness, bokeh, etc. and that's what matters for me. I think I've got the right sense of framing, composition, etc...

Regards,
Marc

Thank you Gary for those very kind words from you and your wife! Sorry to hear that I'm forcing the bar to be raised - not my intent! :(

I posted this image of the Olive Sparrow on the Nature Photographers Online Magazine forum for the first time tonight. I was shocked at getting 3 responses (all very positive, nothing negative) in the space of 40 minutes! :o They are pretty tough in their critiques on the avian forums, believe me... I suspect it's because the sparrow has limited range within the US, and that shot shows a little "attitude"...:)

Marc

Thanks Sune! I really enjoyed watching the parents come and go to feed their young one in the Mesquite tree. Only 5 feet from my cabin...:)

Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed them!

Marc

Thanks Jeff! Those are the first bold comments I ever received on a photo post... :o:)

Cheers!

Thank you both for those kind comments. It was a real treat to watch it's interest in the lens and the blind. Couldn't quite figure it out...:D

Hi Mike!

I subscribe to Nature's best, but as you may have guessed I'm kinda nervous about those contests. Unlike the wildlife competition I did where everyone is close to being on a level playing field, I have no idea who/what could be submitted.

Besides, I'm still learning... ok, that's a sad excuse, since I say that all the time...:o Thank you for the kind words and I will keep an eye on it.

Regards,
Marc

Hi Syb, thank you for the kind words. I setup some branches with leaves, etc. in front of the watering hole, which is in front of a mesquite fence, which is directly in front of a stand of trees. This makes the birds feel comfortable with their surroundings and much safer because they can still perch even at the water's edge.

It's not uncommon to put out food of some kind to lure wild animals out. The birds are simply attracted to water, as are many animals. Watering holes in hot climates are a magnet for activity.

Oh, and I've disappeared into the brush with my camo gear too... :) just have to wear the kevlar rattlesnake gaiters... better to be protected somewhat than not...

Hello Ray and thank you for the comments - you are very kind. I don't know if you want to do that (grow up)... I am really a big kid inside...

I promise to do my best to not disappoint anyone Scott! Thank you for the comments and best wishes.

Regards,
Marc

Thanks Gus! They are more curious as to the sound of the camera than really being scared by it.

Thanks Gary - much appreciated and glad you enjoyed these images.

Thank you Jim!

Regarding images of the blind: did you want the listing of where to buy it or the actual blind photos that I took of the interior of the blind? I have a couple taken by someone from a little distance away - let me know.

Regards,
Marc

You honor Heinrich - thank you!

 Thank you Pat! I really appreciate the kind words. These are the images I could not submit, since no cropping is allowed in the contest.

Tom, thank you for the kind words and sharing. I do appreciate that you stopped by and enjoyed them.

It took me several weeks to get to this level, but it was also because I was deflected with other subjects to photograph. Birding photography is such a tough combination of skill, timing/luck and long good glass to get those keepers. There are probably a few other things in there too... Luck is not the only thing, and I know you'll keep getting better because I suspect you are stubborn like me...;)

Regards,
Marc

Thank you Kevin, and I sincerely appreciate those words.

You may want to go dig up some previous posts and check them out - several images that aren't up for public viewing on my website. I let them be seen here first at Pentax Forums... ;)

BTW, there are four posts taken with the FA* 250-600/5.6 - what a gem!!!

Cheers,
Marc

Ole, you are very kind! I was a complete rookie at birding photography until April/May of this year. As you know, it requires a huge amount of patience, since in this environment people are rarely seen. Luckily if you sit still, even in the open, they will eventually settle down and come relatively close.

Thank you again for stopping by and looking. Your words do mean a lot to me. :)

Regards,
Marc
