Looks like you need a sensor clean, some 'dust bunnies' evident in those shots.

Just to add a little to the recent speculation, I had only just upgraded the firmware on the K-1, and grabbing focus so quickly on those birds did surprise me.
The firmware upgrade may have improved the focus, or it may be imagination.
I need to use the camera a bit more to be sure.

Who says Pentax doesn't have good AF-C?
I saw something out of the corner of my eye, swung around, pointed the camera, immediately got focus, and fired off 3 shots. It was all over before you could say... :-)
The birds are female Nankeen Kestrels.
K-1, DFA 150-450 + 1.4x TC, handheld. See exif for shot details.

I've been rummaging around in my archives and found this one.
A juvenile Crested Pigeon. A pity it isn't nice and clean around the bird.
K-1, Sigma 18-300, handheld. This lens is nice and sharp. See exif for shot details.

That's what I do for pics that don't label that exif is attached, but for your shots nothing shows up...but often does for others.

eaglem, your flower pics are always a joy to behold, you have the 'art' well and truly figured out.
Are you able to include the exif data with your posted pics so us poor sods trying to aquire the 'art' can learn?

Well, I am a k-3 II (bird) shooter, 150-450 + 1.4xTC, and the prospect of using this set-up on the K-1 appeals to me.
I suspect that the lower noise and the dynamic range of the K-1, is going to out-weigh any loss of resolution.
I am really looking forward to seeing a few rigorous comparative tests...just to convince myself that I am being objective :)
