Have you seen any evidence that they sell a lot of them? I have seen a lot of them for sale on eBay by lots of sellers but I haven't seen any actual feedback from anyone who bought one. I am obviously looking in the wrong places.

Does stop down metering with the green button use the solenoid?

Meaning it acts differently if the wires are reversed.

I just meant that if the solenoid contains a permanent magnet it will have an electric polarity. That is true isn't it?

There is a permanent magnet in the solenoid which does give it polarity.

I would say no. The resistance is too low. The correct one is 30 Ohms.

OK I seem to recall others measured 15 ohms so you might have been lucky.

I "think" they had a different resistance and were probably designed to work from a different voltage.

I thought it had been established that DVD drive solenoids were not suitable.

The fact that these cameras used different solenoids for the two functions speaks volumes. Pentax must have been aware of a difference between them at that time.
