I recently found a couple of Tamron mirrors while looking for prices of used Canon FD L glass (;)MattGunn). I thought these might be of interest to european members as the prices are little lower than usually on ebay(.co.uk at least).
There's two listed on www.ffordes.com. One 55B in Used equipment/Canon/manual lenses with FD-mount for £79. The other one (not stated which version and no pic) is in Used equipment/Olympus/lenses with OM-mount for £89.
And one more on www.the-camera-house.co.uk listed in Lenses/Olympus with caps and hood (and OM mount)for £89.
Don't know how often these shops update their pages, but hopefully this helps someone looking for a Tamron Mirror.

Thanks MattGunn!
And no I didn't stop by the donut shop:lol: actually I have couple of other shots with headache inducing bokeh.
If this lens had the reach of the 500mm it'd be perfect. It's much smaller and lighter than my 3M-5A 8/500mm and focusing is easier. Focus ring is just perfectly damped and of course it's one stop faster.
After 2hrs in -20C I noticed that the focusring on my 500mm had gotten really stiff, and it's a little too stiff even in the summer. Also my splitscreen partially blacks out around f8 so that's another gripe with the 500mm. I posted one shot with 500mm on the minimalist thread but here it's again: |

Here's couple of shots from the MC3M-7K 5.6/300mm from today. Conditions weren't very good but with some PP these turned out OK (when the sun came out the bird was long gone:(). |

Nice bird Matt. How far away was it? I got the 300mm from a guy who has collected cameras and microscopes for 20 years. He always has something listed on a local auction site.

The weather hasn't been too bright and I 've been busy with Christmas stuff so I still haven't had the time or optimal conditions to really test the MC3M-7K 5.6/300mm.
Here's one shot I managed to get so far. Converted from Raw with LR defaults/auto setting (exposure upped ~1,5). Looks promising. |

I'm expecting that too as I already have the 3M-5A 8/500mm which I like a lot. Too much christmas going on to try the lens out today. Maybe tomorrow...

Just yesterday picked up my Christmas present for myself. A russian MC3M-7K 5.6/300mm mirror with a set filters and a russian M42->PK adapter (which doesn't fit my K200D). It seems to be quite rare as google doesn't know much about it. Hopefully I'll get a change to test it outside sometime today although it's not very bright outside.
Here's a few quick shots of the lens:

Mine (and from what I've heard all the others too) focus way past infinty. I've got a cheapo M42/PK flanged adapter and a ~2,5mm spacer underneath it and the lens clears the mirror/flash bump by 1mm and focuses still to infinty and beyond, with K100D I could use a little bit thinner spacer. Focusing scale is off now but I've got a small piece tape with a mark on it so I know where the infinity is ;)

That's Sharp! Did you increase contrast/sharpness in pp or is this straight from the camera?

Thanks for the explanation. I've thought about bidding on a couple of Tamron mirrors with fungus but haven't done so because I've been worried it'll be too hard to clean (which I now see can be the case if the fungus has spread too far).

MattGunn: I thought that mirror lenses were harder to take apart (or put back together). Did you take pictures of the dismantling?
Here's more from the 3M-5A 8/500mm from today:

Inspired by this thread I dug out my Russian 3M-5A 8/500mm. Although I had to hurry to work I managed to get a few shots of butterflies. Handheld and converted from raw with LR defaults with some cropping. |
