Read those already, but thanks. I am more curious as to how different the first and second versions are. According to Dimitrov, the second version was only made in 1984 and is kinda rare. I was hoping maybe someone else will have both and have some insight into the differences.

I just picked up an M 80-200mm at goodwill for pretty much nothing. I noticed right off the bat that this puppy is sharp wide open. I also noticed that I apparently picked up the second version as the minimum focusing distance is shorter. Can anyone tell me the difference between version I and II, besides length and weight? What is the difference in optical formula besides groups and elements?
