is there a way to modify K3II firmware, I would like to enable dialing the astrotracer magnetic declination compensation manually, should be quite simple.
My main programming knowledge is by far java, however i could catch up with c, and c++ ( havenīt used them in 10 years ).
So first i would need to decompile the K3II firmware, which i don't know which tool to use.
Then editing, if possible and then compiling it again.
In my mind it doesn't seem to be complicated, for sure the camera is maintaining some kind of magnetic declination compensation internally so the new functionallity would just need to allow me to change that value, that's it.
An alternative would be to make the camera to read that value from the sd file.
Ideas?
ps: I have downloaded https://github.com/i-am-shodan/PentaxFirmwareTool
I compiled it and tried it to decrypt the K3II firmware that is in the zip provided by pentax, however the process fails as the XOR.key provided in PentaxFirmwareTool does not match firmware size.
I wonder were did they got that xor.key and how could i get the one for k3II. If the non encrypted version is available then calculating the xor file would be easy, providing they are still using same xor approach.
pps: well after reading a bit, it seems efforts on hacking pentax firmware has been abandoned, and if it is pure assembly i guess i would be dead.
