I'm not sure what f-stop you used but I've found with the 6x7 I have to use one stop stop down from what I would with 35mm due to the dof problem you experienced. In other words, If I were going to shoot with 35mm and f5.6 I'd use f8 with the 6x7...more shallow dof regardless the lens chosen. At least that's my experience.
