Taken at a low angle the smoke degraded the quality of this image taken with the K-1 II and 1.4x TC. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Moon 3a-3117 by Steve Robinson, on Flickr

I suppose it would depend on the subject. I don't think you can lock down the tripod when shooting wildlife and then use a remote or mirror lockup. I just have to have the pano head slightly loose so I can move if need be and steady the camera and lens with my free (?) hand and arm. For birding I will continue to use just the lens and not the TC. Unless the subject distance is great, 630mm is too much to follow swiftly moving birds. :hmm:

I had a good look at the images I had taken and I thought I saw they were a little back focused. So I went into AF Fine Adjustment again and set the combo to +1 which doesn't sound like much but it made a big difference. I had already tested the combo with AF FA and didn't get the results I finally got yesterday. I also used center point AF and focused on the birds head.
Thanks for the feedback.

Yep Loyd, but they move too fast to get their measurements. :D

Lots of detail in that image. With all the light pollution in SAT I wasn't sure I could even see the moon. :hmm:

If you shoot small or distant wildlife like birds or animals you don't want to get close to like bears, I think the K-3 III would be great with with the 150-450. I'm getting better with C.AF and getting more keepers than not even with my K-3 I.
I didn't have to increase the exposure in post. I often add some texture and also clarity which will show up as grainy. The image is about 75% of the original so not too much.
