Hi Mike, I just want to let you know that all jacket linings are removable ;)

But in seriousness sounds like a fun haul, I see you've discovered the problem with army surplus - buying lots and wanting more!

Our profs are big on legibility, if they can't read it or follow the answer, then marks go out the window.

That being said, if I don't get a problem, I put a few scribbles here and there and hope the marker assumes I know what I'm doing :D

Apparently these last couple years have seen a sharp increase in academic integrity violations, especially in engineering too. Collaborating on quizzes, pinning up notes just out of view for finals, identical digital assignments just with the name changed, etc. Fools that do that, they're only screwing themselves over for the future.

I've never tried a graphics tablet, but I know several of my classmates use one or a regular tablet for notetaking. Seems pretty convenient, especially in the era of online learning and submitting assignments digitally. Personally I'm old fashioned still using paper, but I do see the benefits of such a tool for many applications from course work to photography.

That's an excellent price for it, especially as it's claiming new! Someone on the fence should snap this up quick, provided returns are possible in the case of a bad copy!

That's the plan :D

Unfortunately, fairly miserable outside, where I planned to really get to grips with the lens, and wrong time of year for flowers, but when it clears up I'll be heading out and snapping away.

I also have some people related projects upcoming eventually, where this should be good for some headshots too.

Moi aussi now, with this last lens, there's nothing lacking in my kit. Sure there's things I look at and think "wouldn't that be nice", but in reality I have all I should ever really need, and budget expended
So hopefully no more photography acquisition for a while now, except maybe some small accessories here and there.

Thanks to a very generous forum member, I've finally acquired a lens I've been wanting ever since I've started photography...

@aslyfox; "sold" it to me for just the cost of shipping!

An incredibly kind act that I hope to pass on something similar to another forum member some time down the road.

I picked it up with some portrait projects in mind for next year!

I think it will also be a key part of my travel kit...

Just picked up a DA*55 sold to me by PF member pearsaab, looks well at home on the KP:

All I can say is wow, should have bought one years back!

First fun wide-open snap:

Haha, I did have an M 40/2.8 at one point - but sold it as I had the 40 XS - I never used either though, and will probably stick the 40 XS for sale too.

My svelte little KP has turned into a beast. Time to go out shooting I think...

Mm, from first impressions, I'm definitely going to like it!

What attracted me most was the high ISO performance - but the customization to make a body work best for me is nice, improved SR is a bonus too, as well as slightly more cropping power. :)

That's what I thought - I press info twice and I can turn the screen off there, but if I then power off and power on the camera the screen is back on again... maybe I'm missing a menu option. :hmm:

Maybe I should go look up this thing called a "manual", has anyone ever touched one of those before - I've heard horror stories

EDIT:
Sure enough, I found my answer within two minutes of opening the manual:

Umm... I did a thing.

At first I was worried about ergonomics, but now that I've got it I can see it's no worry - it's surprisingly comfortable in hand with the 21 Ltd and small grip. Can't wait to get out shooting and see if it was really worth the expense to upgrade from the K-50 ;)

Side note: on my K-50 I had the rear LCD off permanently, so that when I turned it on, the screen wouldn't. Can't seem to find how to do that here?

Just picked this up in the post the other day - I haven't had a chance to really use it beyond some basic testing, but it should suit my needs for the lens well.

Also, I don't seem to have any SMUs lying around, so I hope that wool flat caps are acceptable AMUs...

That sounds like torture to me. A big reason for cycling is to be outside in the fresh air.

No clue. But a litre of water is 1 kg. In fact the definition of a litre is the volume of 1 kg of water.

Now that's an idea. I just had little squares of duct tape on the hood where it was worn, and it works okay like that - a bit stiff however.

We heat by wood only, and cool by breezes in the winter. So the only money cost is gas for the chainsaw. Time, on the other hand...

Off topic, but you can also partly thank Canada and the Columbia River Treaty for a lot of the hydro power.
It's actually quite fascinating having done a fair bit of reading into the topic.

I wouldn't say that I had small wrists at all, but certainly not oversized wrists either. I quite like the slim profile of the watch as it means it doesn't interfere with shirt cuffs, or gloves or anything. When I was using a GPS/HR watch (which I ditched in favour of using a phone as I could do more with it, had better battery, and why carry a heavy watch when I already had that), I always found it would interfere with more technical clothing and that I was worried about damaging it, as well as having to take it off for certain things. I don't have to worry about that with this Casio, as I would be impressed if I could break it, and if I did it would be pretty cheap to replace. If I recall correctly, the latest GPS watch I was using was a Suunto Ambit 2, quite bulky and heavy, though pretty good for what it was.

How much, if I may ask?

I quite like using the so called 'terrorist watch', as it's so inexpensive and seems to last through everything, such as swimming and shoving it in rock cracks while climbing. It was $15 here, so that's, like what, nine quid?
