three flamingos (I won't mention what river they were on for Walt's sake) Swartkops flamingoes - old slides by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr ---------- Post added 03-17-16 at 01:25 AM ----------
makes a nice photo when they look at you, but it's worth keeping the engine running ;D

I guess PE needs the income, but I hope it doesn't change too much., We owned the house right next door to the Swartkops Yacht club - right on the waterfront there - can't believe how little those houses are worth with a location like that, but there you go - it was cheap to buy also :). Married in St Nicholas, Charlo, wife's folks used to live in Kinnersly St in Newton Park - small world :) (She attended Alexander Road High school, where her father taught, and she taught for a while at Pearson - so yes - though I've toured the country and spent a year also in Graaff-Reinet, PE was always home :) I suppose I should apologise to wildlife photographers for hijacking the thread, but nice to compare notes :)))

Not even there this time ;( - although I'd love to now it's expanded and has lions strolling around etc -but I've been a few times - we lived in Swartkops village from 1999 to 2002 and my wife's family come from PE - we even got married there, back in 1989 - so I know PE as well as anywhere in SA - many fond memories :)

thanks for your comments :) - was actually in SA for 5 weeks last July/August - first time back in 13 years - but unfortunately almost all the time was spent clearing and selling the house where my late mother-in-law lived in PE - made time to drive up from Cape Town and back again at the end (inland route) but we didn't get a chance to go up north :( - incidentally - I could do with a little less of the GBP being strong against the SAR right now, as the money foe the house sale hasn't come through yet :((( ;)

on three trips to the Kruger National Park, I only saw one leopard, and that was crossing the road -but it was a beauty - note the giraffe's legs in the background, too ;) (2000) :) - Pentax Z-1 - 400mm f/5.6 - Fujichrome Provia 100 leopard! by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr
