I probably posted this at the time, but it popped up on the BBC Springwatch programme last night (via the eponymous Flickr group). Fortunately they ask permission, so I was alerted to ii :) (though I do often watch, as it happens). Male sparrowhawk. evening visitor by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr

We were treated to a visit by a mature male sparrowhawk to our balcony as I was making supper. Fortunately I had my camera (K-3) to hand with the 70-200 attached - it was set to an unnecessarily high shutter speed ( I forgot to check in the excitement) which resulted in a higher ISO than I'd have chosen, and it had to be shot through a double glazed window, but bearing all that in mind, I'm very happy with the result. evening visitor by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr

Not the technically best ever (apart from my own shortcomings, to me, the FA^400 has never seemed as good on digital as on film?) , but I liked the character of it - a European starling trying to access a feeder not made for it (K-3 + FA^ 400/5.6) European starling by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr

Not a great shot, but good old thrushes are quite uncommon in England now - with a commensurate increase of snalls in our garden :( - this one was a brief visitor to out back yard, taking off as I fired off a burst on the K-3 :( :( welcome visitor... ... leaves by Graham Hobbs, on Flickr
