Straight after this a really stinging hail shower and buffeting wind hit me, but fortunately they passed quickly as it was a mile or so back to the car

There was a very heavy bank of (active) raincloud above and in front of me, but the twilight sky to the west was comparatively clear, giving a sort of twilight storm light
