Advice on potentially switching from Canon to Pentax

General advice would be this:

1.Make a list of what does and doesn't matter to you in a camera and see which cameras come closest
2. Go and hold/use one of each
3. You'll probably know by then.

Every system has it fierce loyalists - and the truth is that they're all right - all the major makers (and Pentax is one in terms of history if not current size) make great cameras - some suit some people more than others, that's all.
