As I've said elsewhere on these forums,I think it is very telling that Ricoh turned into a bunch of clueless imbeciles the moment they bought Pentax, whereas before they had done everything right and Pentax were getting it wrong.

that's a good point - and I say also that they are also constantly faced with the conflicting pressure to improve AF speed, which is partly down to lens design - and they have partly handicapped themselves in this by the policy of backwards compatibility

There's a couple of things I'd say there - first, as you say, Pentax AF is getting better with each new camera - unfortunately so are the 'opposition' , but newer Pentax cameras and lenses are ok for most non-specialist situations, and they continue to improve, as said. Second, the lenses look like they are getting better motors, which should mean quicker AF, and quieter motors, which will open up the way for video improvements. Also, debatably, it looks like the focus throw on the newer lenses might be a little less, which would also speed up AF. I think that the K3ii replacement with modern lenses, might be quite quick.

What I always find interesting is not what they are hiding, but why they are hiding it, and why they do it in such a crude way (esp name of K-1). Do they not want competitors to know the specs, do they not want us to know, or are they just as yet undecided? The lens looks quite finished - more so than the 50mm mock-up as first shown, so it's unlikely to be up for a major redesign. Anyway, not really important, but it's hard not to be curious about things you don't understand :)

great news! - I'm not really into APS-C for wA, but it looks like being a great lens and a very solid mark of commitment to APS-C, which should silence some of the doubters :)
