IMO one of the problems that Ricoh?Pentax faces is that overall tech development is quicker than their R&D cycles, so they're always in danger of being behind the curve on some feature on new releases, however much of an improvement the new release is over the old one. I suspect this is why they often go down different routes to other companies, so that their cameras offer unique features rather than cutting edge conventional features - as long as there are enough of us to enjoy that, it's fine, but it can make Pentax appear to fall short on direct comparisons of anything other than IQ which makes attracting new customers a problem.
Still, I'm suitably excited by the most recent postings from JPT :)

possibly not ideal, but to me vastly preferable to one dominated by accountants or marketers :)

I'll endorse the prevous two comments totally
Many thanks @JPT for the report.
I retract some harsh words on another tread about the KP customisation - if it's part of a largely independent venture encouraged by Ricoh, that's torally different from meaningless cosmetic changes from Ricoh
