OSV, I didn't say I could not see the difference. I have taken 19, 670 photos in the last year and 10 months alone. I can tell the difference and it is not worth not buying the 20-40mm for my purposes. Also, I have taken photos over the last 40 years in film and digital and won awards. Just because I am new to Pentax digital cameras and lenses and asked for opinions does not mean I don't know what I am doing. I see that some on this forum don't think you OSV know what you are doing. I will enjoy my purchase and not look back just like dakight said, but one thing for sure, I won't be engaging you anymore in any conversation on this forum on anywhere else. Thanks for the encouragement dakight. I will be unsubscribing to this thread as of right now and once again thank all of you who were kind and well mannered and were willing to give advice and direction and did not make unsolicited comments like OSV, thanks again. :)

Ok, I ask Fenwoodian to post some photos he did in his comparison so I could compare his photos against other photos on this forum for the 20-40mm and the FA 31mm. Frankly I was not convinced by his statement of rigorous test of the two lens mentioned. I waited and waited for him to fill my request and when he did not do so I did my own research on this forum and some friends of mine and their photos of both lenses and I do not come to the same conclusion that Fenwoodian came to. So much so did I not come to Fenwoodians conclusion that in my research of this matter for the last four days I ended up purchasing the Pentax HD DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR with a B+W circular polarized filter. It will be here around the 4th of January. Thank you all for your impute and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. :) :)

Fenwoodian, post some photos you took in the comparison and I will compare your 20-40mm photos to others who have posted photos from their 20-40mm and then also post photos from the FA31mm that you shot when doing the comparison and I will compare them against the 20-40mm you took and the FA31mm against some photos others took with the FA31mm.

One final question! With my PENTAX-DA 1:3.5-5.5 16-85mm ED DC WR and the rapid advance in computer-aided lens design, coupled with manufacturing technologies such as glass-moulding for the inexpensive mass-production of aspheric elements, does this mean that the gulf in image quality between primes and zooms has narrowed considerably over the past decade to make something like 15mm F4 still enough difference in quality make any practical sense? Now I ask this question because my DA 16-85 really performs extremely well especially in mid ranges. Just asking and interested in your impute.

I want to thank all of you for your contribution to my question. I am not concerned about price an the list above will allow me to research and read about all the above lenses to help me decide on quality and performance and you all have given great guidelines concerning the use of each lens. I am very familiar with Canon lens and after market lenses for the Canon EOS but since I sold all my Canon stuff and now moved to Pentax I have to familiarize my self with the Pentax lens and after market lenses for my Pentax K3II. Thank you all very much for taking the time, I appreciate your comments and advice. :)

I would like it for walk around on city streets for tight shots and for portraits. 35mm on my crop would give me close to the old 50mm when I shot film using my Ricoh and a 1.4 Zeiss. Also, 50mm on my crop would let me take some real good portraits and if it were 1.4 it would allow me to use it in low light. I like landscape as my favorite and use the 16-85 Pentax which serves that purpose rather well, would like a good prime to do special work and they are so good for clarity and blurring back ground on close ups.

What prime lenses should I consider for the K3II, I know it is a general question but like to keep it between 10mm and 50mm. Thank you for any help.
