It would have to be f3.9 or f4.1 or something weird (f3.8-4.2 variable aperture?), because it's a Limited... :D

I wonder, though if refreshing the Limited online presence is a precursor to a new Limited of some sort that is already on the roadmap?
Could the 70-200 f4 be the first DFA limited zoom? It’s rumored to be compact and light... Could the super-wide DFA prime be a limited?
Are there others we’re overlooking?

The recent Lensrentals test of a stack of 70-200 Canon lenses showed a lot less than typical sample variation.
In fact, it showed the least of any zoom tested.
That part is down near the bottom... Lens Rentals | Blog
They put that down primarily to the increased use of automation in lens manufacture Canon has implemented.
So while I really like hand assembly for some things, it may be something of a dying art on the lens front... at least for the big-volume lenses.

I think the 24-50 range would be terrific, but it would take more than a refresh of the old one.
As much as I like my A variant, the bokeh characteristics are far from what a Limited should be...
