Still an issue. I get a few more Explored, people are hitting the fave and commenting on 'Congrats on Explore' but when I go to check its just not there, in and out super fast I think. And then sometimes one slips past and remains. Even before Smugmug acquired Flickr I would get bordered ones sneaking in and remaining, but yeah I never used to get so many 'in and outs' from way back at a time I didn't border or watermark. So if you care about Explore success, no border and watermark is definitely the way to go.

Nice one Matt. How are you finding the 70-210? There's some talk of it being very poor at 210mm at infinity, how's your copy holding up in that regard?

So... I've had a weird thing happening to me. I've had people commenting on some recent flickr shots saying congrats on Explore, but it didn't get the invite into the Explore group like I usually get. More views and faves than normal, and Scout shows the shot got in... but no invite and I looked hard for the shot and could not see it myself in Explore at any day of late...
It's weird because I've now had 5 out of the last 7 uploads in Explore, 5 in Explore since March 13th...
So since the two locusts shot on the page before, supposedly the following have also made it into Explore; |

Nice shot!
That's not anything new, I get into Flickr monthly on average for a couple years now and I am typically in 20+ groups easily. Recent locust one was in 22 groups for example.

Due to being somewhat professional and seeking paid work, I use Instagram, Flickr and Facebook. Facebook gets me the most work, Flickr for sharing images with client, Instagram just to be seemingly part of the 'scene' (it's somewhat expected from some clients for you to have Insta, and even 'flick' some 'live shots' (SOOCs) of the day as it unfolds..

I don't think so, or he's not accepting the invite to the In Explore group?
It's not about wasting time or whatever, just about proof of a bs side of flickr (like Instagram), I wonder if its a paid for service or something to help you appear more important than you really are and paying for likes/subscribers etc.

So I finally found a real life Flickr oddity, the second time I have found such a person (the first one I lost). This guy this morning went and faved a heap of my shots; ? Gareth Trefor Llompart | Flickr
So when that happens I check out their work. Some nice stuff in his photostream. So then I start looking at the view and fav count of his shots, and here's where it gets interesting and mimics one other Flickr user I once found. Every shot (and I mean every shot no matter good or bad) has a very high view and fav count as well as comments. I can understand some of his work having a high view and fav count... but EVERY SHOT?
Like this for example;
6k views and 824 faves and 16 comments.
Or how about this one, 21k views, 1.4k favs, 21 comments, what a masterpiece!
29k views, 1.3k favs, 25 comments
Don't get me wrong, there is some lovely work in his photostream, I just don't quite understand the attention he is getting. There was one other account I found like this, it was all landscape work and even higher view and fav counts.
Does anyone know what's going on here?

Crazy?! Did they all stay in?
I once was browsing Explore and saw about 20 entries from the same guy, selfies taken with his smartphone of him and his gf walking down the street, spamming the shutter. Well it looked like every shot he took that evening with that walk with his gf got into Explore lmao. I wonder what happened and whether they stay, get dropped, etc. Photographically they were terrible images, the smartphone must have been a few years old, nothing endearing at all. That was the most shots I seen ever get in though. I've had 3 in but I think 1 was dropped so I'm curious if all 5 are staying.
I do think Smug is doing something with Explore, I usually never get a bordered watermark images staying in, but recently more have been picked up and are staying; |

I wonder if it has anything to do with that 'help flickrs explore algorithm' thingy circulating around... Aesthetic Score |

Plague
It's rare one of my bordered and watermarked images remains in Explore. The regularly get picked up and dumped shortly after with only a few hundred favs (irrespective of rank), this one however hung around and collected 7000+. I wonder what gives, overlooked and missed by admins or just kept on purpose despite the strict rules over watermarking and bordering...
