1.8 or 2.0 APS-C primes are far from "enormous" in my opinion. Significantly bigger than current limiteds? Yes, but not huge like new DFA 1.4. I wrote silent motors not faster focusing - just to be able to focus without making noise. In general I am thinking about all around primes for silent shooting in dark interiors and (with WR for outsides). Paired with two bodies would be a nice kit for events.

KP would be rally nice if introduced with 3 new bright (f1.8 or f2.0) DA limiteds (around 20mm, 35mm and 70mm) with WR and silent motors. It would be a nice kit. I do not think Pentax is Doomed just it looks like their higher positioning of the brand may be going full frame DSLR. The biggest drawback for Pentax APS-C system now is Pentax FF system. It is not a fact it is only my opinion.

Would set my list for few years. For this Limiteds I would buy KP and for da* new "flagship".

The good thing that nobody can force You to buy one, but it is just good to have an option to buy top quality glass. I use Pentax APS-C cameras for paid jobs (so it is easier to spend many on gear) and I own DA*16-50 and DA*50-135. Second one is a solid performer, SDM still works, just the focus is a bit slow. The first one - DA* 16-50 - is from my perspective (based on my copy) on a different level. IQ is not acceptable below f/5.6 but very good at f8, build or rather combination design+build quality is poor for high end lens, SDM failed and lens has been converted to screw drive so no more silent focusing. If I will see the new line of DA* lenses I would buy 16-50 and 11-18 (of course if the reviews and test give me green light). So maybe asahiman can confirm this new DA* line ;)

From my point of view announcement (or beater releasing) of this new DA* zoom lenses is more anticipated than a new body. I think it would also show more commitment to APS-C system than this new body, as lenses still last longer than camera bodies;)

New DA* 16-50/2.8 would/will be my next money that go to Ricoh Pentax. Next on the list is DA* 11-18/2.8 or new body. But before first purchase I would like to see all three items available to buy.

It is Ricoh Pentax (not Sony) so 2 years sounds reasonable.
I thought that my post is clear about my expectations. I think/hope there will be new high end APS-C body but probably not straight K-3 line continuation. Also new DA* line of lenses.

Other explanation/pure speculation. They wanted to push as many Pentax users to FF as possible by not providing high end APS-C at the same time. If they released both at the same time you would have dilemma: stay with APS-C or go to FF and not a lot of us could afford both at the same time (plus new DFA lenses). I have full time access to Sony FF milc system and still I feel no need for FF. Today APS-C sensors are extremely capable. Cameras for same price are faster and lenses are lighter. The only way to push me to FF is lack of quality APS-C system (lenses plus body) and in Pentax APS-C world this hole expanded recently (it took few years of not releasing new DA* lenses and high end APS-C bodys) but I look forward for fast fix by Pentax-Ricoh.

If the rest of the specs are ok I do not care if the next model is milc or dslr. I would enjoy either of them.
