Considering we've only had 48-72 hours to digest the new terms of service, it's unreasonable to expect people to have finished their research.

I can afford it. Please don't assume what you don't know.

There are other considerations - things like control over images, presentation, the possible addition of blog capability, etc. These will likely cost me more than $50/year, but it may be worth it.

Yep. Exactly. I'm already having to choose between deleting 1,700 photos or paying whatever they ask. Next year it may be $99, or more.

I'm looking into other options too. It's good in a way; it's making me think about what I really want, going forward.

I have 2,700 photos on Flickr. I think the part that irks me isn't the reduction of the free tier, but that they're requiring deletion of photos - either voluntarily, or involuntarily - if you don't upgrade.

That's got the potential to wreak some havoc at sites like this one. SmugMug could have just frozen everything in place - I would have been fine with that. The deletion requirement is just a jerk move, IMO.
