I was in Victoria BC last month shooting film with my Z1-p and ran into a fellow Pentax DSLR shooter.

Does not happen every day, but I do run into Pentax shooters at least once every trip.

Years ago I was looking for a K80-210/4.5 zoom lens. The K Series lens happens to look identical to the easier to find M Series version 1, except for the lens name on the barrel.

I thought I found the rare K Series version on eBay, but the pictures in the listing were hard to verify the lens name "SMC Pentax 80-200mm F4.5". I emailed the seller and had them verify the name on the lens barrel and I asked them to make sure it was not the M Series "SMC Pentax-M 80-200mm F4.5". They assured me there was no "M" in the lens name, so I was a happy camper......

Completed the transaction and weeks later the lens arrived from it's overseas journey from the UK.

Opened the box and yes it was the M Series version.

Back it went to the UK!

Over-exposed shots with Pentax MV

If you are shooting 400 ISO film on a sunny day you might be beyond the meter range for the MV. Try a slower 50 to 100 IOS film on sunny days.

traveling regrets with photography?

Opposite for me.

I also did a lot of traveling in the 1970's to 1990's using a Pentax KX, K28/3.5, K55/1.8, K135/3.5 shooting Kodachrome 64. The detail in these old slides are amazing and I have done enlargements up to 3x2 feet.

Also for me nothing in the digital world can capture the character of an old Kodachrome slide.

Zero regrets for me and I also still only shoot film today now using the new Ektachrome 100 slide film.

Welcome to the forum!

What lens are you using and what apertures did you use on the above pictures? If you are shooting wide open on a 6x7 your DOF is very narrow.

67ii and AE metering issue

Welcome to the forum!

Is this a new camera/lens combo that you just purchased and are trying for the first time, or is this a new issue with your existing 67ii & 105/2.4 what did work correctly at one time?

Also do you have another lens that you could try out on the 67ii?

As mentioned above, run a roll through the camera and check the results. Remember the 6x7 is not designed to dry fire with no film in it, unless you follow specific procedures.

I think they may be referring to the film *ist, which was on the rare side as it was Pentax's last film body.

Welcome to the forum!

You've lots of choices in shooting film and each type is like having a new camera, as the results can be completely different.

What film you use will also depend on what your local film lab can develop. If you have a local lab that does b&w, C41 & E6, then I'd try a roll of each and see what you like the best.
You can also develop your own film at a later date, but I'd use a lab first until you get the hang of it and find a favourite film.

b&w: Ilford & Kodak have numerous choices in various speed.
c41: Kodak has many good colour negative films like Portra, Ektar and Pro Image in speeds from 100 to 800 ISO.
E6: Kodak Ektachrome 100 is a superb slide film, as well Fuji has a couple choice like Provia 100F & Velvia.

Yeah Kolorit 125T was an odd film that I only tried once. (It came in a three pack of 24 exposures and was re-spooled old Kodak Tungsten move stock)

I originally tried it with an 85B filter (for shooting Tungsten film in daylight) and the results were not good, this is the best I could get with just an UV filter.

I use archival storage boxes for my mounted slides, for me mounted slides are way easier to store that negative strips.

Not a 35mm SLR but a 67iii would be the only film camera that I could see Pentax even considering. There are too many old SLR's out there in good running order, but the 6x7 bodies are getting very expensive used and harder to find in good shape. (A used 67ii is selling for over 2K now.)
