Exploring and abandon building in the projects of Cincinnati, OH.... Sketchy. One of my most proud photographs. It was almost dusk at the time of this shot. I used a tripod and 3 second exposure. Don't be afraid to get your gear out!

Hope you like!:D

Is there any Nikon lens user review database anywhere on the internet like the Pentax databases?

I am looking to start shooting Nikon alongside Pentax and I would love to have a lens database like the PentaxForums for Nikon but can't find anything online with real user reviews on all the lenses, film era and all

Have fun!! My K30 glitches and does weird stuff sometimes since I got it. And dropped it once so it is no longer weather sealed :/

It is good to have two cameras for events and such. Or one can do a video or timelapse while you shoot with the other

Just buy more regualr rechargables, forget AAs! Saves you in the long run. I have a K30 and carry two extra in my bag. Only used all three one time.

You mean you like using a smaller aperture. It doesn't matter what is in focus if it is completely blurry from motion.. 1/10th is entirely two slow for anything that moves in the slightest. Would only be acceptable using a tripod shooting still objects

Lens for architectural photography

It all depends how you shoot. I like to use a telephoto and get close ups of interesting architectural details.
For a wide angle I think the obvious choice would be the DA15 or the 12-24 zoom. Both are quite expensive but great lenses

Some tips to maximize image quality

Use lowest ISO when possible, here you have a shutter speed PLENTY fast for a still flower. You could have lowered your ISO to base and got a cleaner shot. Though this looks great, you should always try to maximize image quality I think.

Also, same for aperture. When there is enough light, f8 is usually your sharpest option. Here you could have done this as well and got a slightly better quality shot.

Now obviously these changes would only be noticeable if you were really looking for it.

It's just a balancing act

I say you should decide based on what focal length is best for you. With the kit lens do you find yourself zooming all the way to 50mm most of the time? Do you like to shoot portraits with a shallow depth of field? Do you often shoot in low light? If so, probably should get the 50mm.

---------- Post added 12-10-14 at 08:26 AM ----------

Both will be acceptable in sharpness. If you really just want a "normal" focal length, 35mm is just that. It is almost like you didn't even put a camera to your face. Great for walkaround purposes, not as great for bokeh.

Normal prime focal length, 35mm give or take. The 35mm limited macro has almost no distortion, and can focus plenty close for even a small painting. If your budget isn't so large, the normal da 35mm 2.4 should be perfectly acceptable

Honestly, you should go Canon if you are into video. Pentax is great, but not for video work
