K 85-210/3.5

B. Dimitrov has this listed as a "once in a lifetime" available lens.
One on my local Craigslist for $450(CAD).
No nothing about this lens and can't see me paying that much for a manual lens that I doubt I'd use much.

This lens really have this much value or someone just has high hopes?

You can buy a K-50 with a kit lens for just over $500 Canadian in my home town. If you can find somewhere local that sells keep in mind you might find good prices on "old" stock.

Hoping you well.
I might not take anything.
Reasonable chance you won't find a hotel room or even get where you are intending to go and you might end up in an environment where having your camera with you means it's not as safe as it would have been had you left it at home.

Best of luck!

Did your HP printer stop working on September 13?

While I agree with this in principal, the fact is that most printers aren't sold at a high price. They are subsidized by the ink you are "expected" to have to buy. You can buy printers (ie the Epson Ecotank) that just take liquid ink. Pay your $500 plus and get on with life. But if you want to buy a similar Epson printer for $90, expect Epson to try and force you to buy their ink.

Purely speculation at this point.

And HP can not be responsible for 3rd party reverse engineered hardware continuing to work after every update. Until printer cartridges are built to standardised specs this will always be an issue.

Pentax makes a 16-45 F4 zoom that is half the weight of the Nikon 16-35 F4. Sounds like all you want is a bigger zoom so you can use filters you already have.

Pentax K-70 has issues with Sigma lenses, just like K-1

Posts on this topic for the K-1 indicated that Sigma reverse engineered the mount instead of going through proper channels. Basically, they guessed at specs and missed. Unless you have other information, blaming this on Pentax appears incorrect.

Photog Seeks $1 Billion from Getty for Copyright Infringement

I am sure that most people will remember where Sony bankrupted someone so they could scare others into following the law. The final judgement, after all appeals ran out was over over $20,000 per violation. This is arguably worse, as Getty routinely practices threats of lawsuits to drum up business AND has lost past lawsuits for the same thing. As we all know, US law likes precedent and does not like to be repeatedly disrespected (see 3 strikes laws where people get life in jail for 3 "minor" felonies).

Be interesting to watch this play out.

Remember you can use longer exposures via tripod and smaller apertures. You can do this when less light then you'd otherwise need which might help with reflections as well.

Bojidar Dimitrov is looking for someone to take over his page

I've used this page many times and have always enjoyed my visits there.

That being said, it is often nice to utilise a variety of resources when making a choice. EVEN IF Bojidar's site stays true to itself it will lose some of that "2nd opinion" it now gives. To state it differently - I consider a lens and venture here. I want a 2nd opition bdimitrov's site is great to enforce or contradict the 1st view. Maybe I'm out to lunch on that, but personally, if the only choice is here - great - keep it and maintain it and I hope all continues, but I'd personally like to see it remain separate.

We all know though, it's easy to offer an opinion while not actually helping - and I really don't want to sound negative here......

I've never had focus issues on my K-30. I almost never use live view. Not sure if you do or not but if so I'm not sure how the camera can know where you want it to focus. :P

Need help choosing my first camera

The best advice that I received when I bought my 1st DSLR 3 or 4 years ago was this:

1) If you buy and end up just playing with your gear occasionally (ie, don't become a diehard photographer), just about any DSRL on the market will do.
2) If you do become diehard, you will eventually outgrow your body. Your glass, however - you will keep.

It was also suggested that anything to "top" end is often less easy to use - entry levels bodies are designed to be easier to use.

Personally, if you were a family member asking, I'd suggest an entry level body brand new (warranty is nice) with a kit lens and go from there.

Help in choosing between two DA* 50-135 F2.8 SDMs

What you paid for each is less material then what you will sell each for. If you are of the type to sell for less because you bought for less than it might be advantageous for you to sell the one that will bring you the most money. If you are 50/50 on which one to keep that might be the decider. That it is "more beat up" might get you less money for it as well.

What lens should you have brought along?

Since you indicated that we can only pick 2 and I always carry the Pentax-DA 40mm XS (due to it's size)......for wildlife reasons and where I live the Pentax-DA L 55-300mm is the lens I carry most of the time.

Your question is skewed though as my shoulder bag (which I almost always bring with me means I almost always have 3 or 4 lenses plus the 40mm XS.

If I wish I brought a lens and didn't it's usually a speciality lens and the only 2 I have are DA 10-17mm Fish-Eye or the Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro. This is usually because these often get left at home unless I expect to use them.......

Best walk around lens between 18-135 or 18-270 ???

It is a trade off. If more reach is more valuable to you, the 18-270. If quality is more important to you, the 18-135. Generally speaking, the more range a zoom covers, the more quality suffers. I do not see an exception to that rule of thumb with these lenses.

Why K-30/50 call "Entry-Leve"???

4.5 stars at Amazon.
9+ rating here at Pentax Forums
3 pages of posts on this subject in a sticky thread dedicated to this subject, with about 15 people posting that they had this issue.
90% of your last who knows how many posts on this subject - every chance you can get it seems.

You had this problem on a camera you bought on E-Bay.

As someone who works in IT I can tell you if a problem exists on more than about 5% of anything you are going to hear about nothing but that problem. This isn't even close to what is seen.
But even if 5%-10% of K-30/K-50 were having this problem it would not even remotely approach "you can pretty count on".

The problem with anecdotal evidence is just that. It's anecdotal. My 50,000 or SSPhotography who posted of his 260,000 shutter count on his K-30 are in all likelihood, based upon star ratings, far more common.

If you were new to DSLR's and wanted to buy Pentax, not wanting to spend too much you would logically enter the market with Pentax's entry level models. That is certainly what these were.

You could be right. They are under 15/16 on my K-30. As this group is for K-30/K-50 I assumed the menus are the same. Probably aren't.
Either way.
I still think OP needs to test C.I.F. using a known supported lens (the Pentax 50) and work from there. Anything tested with another lens could be a potential waste of time and confuse what has been tried with a particular lens. Not saying the OP hasn't been thorough....but I've really never had issues with C.I.F on my K-30 that didn't involve me missing a step (ie, all the issues were my fault).
