I like this. Very seasonal, with beautiful depth of field.
My pick.

This is a very well composed shot. The dog looks like he's waiting for his owner to go for a walk, or swim. Perfect timing.

I vote for this one.

Nothing says "Serenity" more than a walk in the woods with a bench to sit down on to contemplate nature quietly. Nominated.

I took the camera out with the lens today, and I must say, I'm not impressed. I'll stick with it to see if maybe I haven't done something with setting I should have, but I'm not expecting much.

You're right. I was mixing functions up. After a bunch of reading, I discovered that the one I just happened to buy was the right one for the Pentax, which is why it worked at all. It said "KR" on the barrel, so I figured that was a good sign, but the engraving at the lens said "MC", so I was confused. There is some clouding inside on the outer lens, just to one side, but the few photos I've been able to take so far don't show it. I'll take it out tomorrow and give it a good try.
Early times. Still getting used to Pentax.

Looks like I just made the same mistake. Picked the same lens up at the local thrift store (no refunds allowed) but for some reason, it seems to work - not too well so far, but it does work. Clicks in the same as a Pentax lens, then, as long as I'm in "Auto" mode on the lens, the camera asks for the focal length, and once set, it becomes useable. I do have to use manual focus (you have to pull the barrel back and forth). I kind of got fooled because it has a Pentax lens cap on the back.

Wow! I can't believe all the replies. Thanks everybody! The kit lens that came with the camera is 18-55mm. One of the guys I worked with had a spare SMC Pentax-FA 80-320mm he gave to me. Nice to have that extra reach. Still it would be nice to have a prime. Never used one since becoming digital. With the adapter, I could also use the one on my old Fujica camera as well. The only reason I don't use that old film camera is that the seals leak light. That one's a 55mm.
Thanks for all the hints. The sample photos are great.
You guys rock!

Hi. Just was given a K-50 as a gift and working to get used to it.

Back in the film days I had a Fujica ST801 (35 years ago or so) and back then I bought a used 135 mm Pentax screw mount lens (f3.5). Is that lens good enough for me to buy an adapter for my K-50? It's in mint shape with the hood and case. It's basically been sitting in my cupboard for all this time.

Thanks to anyone who can give me an opinion.

As a retirement gift, the people I worked with gave me a new K-50. It was exactly the camera I was looking for, and it's my first DSLR. Back in the seventies and eighties, I had a Fujica SLR, and did some of my own darkroom stuff, so it's good to be back with and SLR instead of the compacts and superzooms I've had in between.
I'm glad to have found this forum, because there seems to be a lack of support for Pentax users.
