Concert in our kids' school. ISO 3200 most of the time. Handheld, low light, spots without though and direction, mic booms and random cables dangling all across the stage. With my previous camera this would have been one single drag'n'drop to the trashcan. The K-5 is a good friend. Still finding it difficult to get proper focus. It feels like the mic mesh works like a magnet for the center AF point no matter how far away I think I point.

That sounds promising, if it weren't for reports like post #237 in this thread sending discouraging signals.

Got the same reply from Pentax: "Nothing our staff have seen or been able to repeat, send in your complete kit and somebody will take a look at it."
I've explained exactly the same feelings that this must have come up numerous times and is well-documented through test images people have posted across the internet. No reply.

> i hope that thread shouldnt die so pentax know everything is NO allright ;-((((

I would think that a more effective way is if a large amount of users keep sending in problem reports/reminders to Pentax. Forum threads are a great source for information and exchange of user experiences, but they probably have weak influence over resourcing decisions for bug fixes.

I can't resist shooting bugs. And now my LBA has brought me a Sigma 105/2.8 to play with...

Never knew moths had a dish-brush on their back. This one looks really strange.

Spring concert indoor and quite dark with red+blue LED stage lighting.
This is where I feel that the combination K-5 + 70-200/2.8 really shines.

K-5, FA-50 (a macro would have been great, but the 50 was on as I was out doing something completely different)

I'm just starting to try to get some bird shots. It's a bit harder than I thought. It would certainly be easier if they didn't insist on sitting primarily amongst branches and leaves making focusing a challenge.

K-5 + Bigma (handheld leaning against vertical post), 410 mm, 1/100 s (thought I was at 500 mm):

What to expect from K-x to K-5

I had a K-x and tried the K-5 in a store after having seen the high-ISO quality output.
Once I heard the silent shutter instead of the loud K-x slap, I was sold.
The physical controls are a lot more generous and the image quality in low light notably better.
With the K-x I was always prepared for the next battery swap. Now I can just keep shooting.

First shots with Sigma 50-500 on my K-5. Shot at f6.3, except the newspaper at f11.

The newspaper in the center of photo #1 was shot at 50 mm. It's the 5 mm small rectangular object near the ridge of the rock formation.

Shot again at 500 mm handheld, 100% crop.

Testing AF. Shot at 500 mm handheld through the windscreen of my car trying to capture the driver through the rear mirror two cars in front of mine. All cars were stationary, no animals hurt, etc.

500 mm, sloppy crop (can't fix right now)

Card Slot

I just use my finger nail to push the card all the way in and then let the nail slide off the card. The card will pop out and stop with about half of the card remaining in the slot. Then I just grab it and pull it out without effort.

Using the same procedure on other cameras would probably launch the card flying across the room.
