Thank you for this clarification! That really changes the story especially since Pentax is pivoting to a higher end market with enthusiast and professional grade equipment!

I will update the title to reflect this! Thank you for clarifying!

Could you please elaborate?

I looked at there study and it appeared to me that they sampled 40% of all Japan camera store sales - that's a pretty significant sample size imo...

Hey everyone,

I've seen this posted on that other website.. decided to post it here too!

??? | BCN AWARD?BCN IT ?????

and more relevant to us:

???????(????) | BCN AWARD?BCN IT ?????

(Google Translate works wonders!)

According to that study, Ricoh's market share in the dSLR consumer electronics market has moved from 7.5% in 2012 and slowly receded over the years to 3.1% recently.

It looks to me that Canon has been dominate with Nikon a close second and Pentax a distant third.

Food for thought!

Selling off gear - which goes first?

For me, I sell all lenses that I do not regularly use to afford lenses I do regularly use.
There are a small select few that I keep as a 'vintage collection' where the only utility they provide is that I think they are cool (Takumar, Helios, Industar, etc.)
And still, in my vintage collection, I try to keep only one example from the series (I try to keep the one example around the 50mm mark).
If you cannot see yourself using the lens regularly, and they give you no excite as a collectible, then I suggest selling!
I'd much prefer a lens I'd use regularly than a dust collector.
So sell the dust collectors to save for lenses you'd actually use!

Humidity in my Sensor

Sounds more like there was something more than humidity if it left something behind on your sensor - water drop maybe? Humidity would completely evaporate eventually.. however - no fear! If it's water marks or dust or whatever - just get it cleaned!

Buy a sensor swap cleaning kit and do it yourself!

Just a random example from the You of Tubes:

Me either, but I got a feeling that they'll better than my K-S2... much rather prefer the latest tech with a new flagship (whatever it might be called) than having to get the KP (SOO yester-year! /s)

....people have been taking great photos of active people before autofocus was even a thing.

Although Pentax AF might not be as coddled as other brands, it can still capture just fine active shots if you have the right technique down!

I've used a Sigma 24mm f/1.8 Marco lens for shooting the MW too.. very nice results! but the field of view at 24mm is too tight for me on APSC... much prefer at least 18mm!

On APSC, I like at least 18mm for a non-stiched image of the Milky Way.
I've recently purchased a 10-20mm which I hope delivers good results next time I shoot the MW.
It's really nice to add some foreground to provide context.

I've used the 18-50mm, 18-55, and 18-135mm to shoot the MW at 18mm, usually at f/4 ish, around 2 minutes, with the O-GPS unit on my K-S2 and have received acceptable results!

If a new K-3 or other flagship APSC isn't released this year then I will have to consider the KP!
For Christmas I was given prepaid credit cards that start charging monthly fees at the end of the year!
