It s very nice, and the halos seem normal due to the extremely close distance [emoji106]

Hi all, first I wish you an happy healthy new year,
exempt of disasters of all sorts (bushfires ...), a lot of marvellous shots, and having a lot of fun !

My feedback about the DA 50mm F1.8 plastic :

Very complementary to the DA 35mm F2.4 (both to keep when travelling thanks to their light weights)
Very good to excellent ++ IQ, if not slighly better than the 35mm
Very good portrait and object lens
50mm on APSC (75mm equiv) + F1.8 is very nice for bokeh separation (moreover saves a lot of dark situations)

Modern rendering (like the 35mm) which can be a plus
Very much better than the 35 for manual focusing (less loseness, quite pleasant in fact)

Advantage (compared to wider angles) : forces to look differently and cut in the subject
Drawback : unatural way of looking around (I often want to make multi stitches when I am in front of a scene, not really a landscape lens)
not versatile

Conclusion : it's a keeper, and good for travel situation in my opinion (low light situations), It's not in my favorite range of focals (in between)

Favorite shots of the month :

I'll make a break next month with the challenge, not because I don't like (one of the best exercises), but it takes quite time and energy and it makes me "need" to acquire all your fabulous lenses ...

Hi all, unfortunately I pretty sure my SSD (with Windows 10 on it) is out of service (0 mo with no partition found, and the brand name not recognised except "200026BB"). So no computer until I receive a new Crucial MX500 (500 Go), ordered yesterday night. I will have to reinstall the OS, and hope there will be no erasing ...(photos are on other HDD disks) Luckily, my K70 is WiFi !
(Do you use NAS servers ?)

Hello Sandy, it is many "disasters" in short time (fires, boat ..). Your mind is not to photography at that time. Moreover wide angles are the most difficult to manage, maybe try a soviet lens, 50 mm or more, it will come back ... What do you mean by your "all approach", don't tell us you are thinking about micro 4/3 or something like that !? ;) (I joke in some way)
Hope to see you soon

Hello, I think recipe to disaster is :
not taking into account technological improvements,
Losing years delays of research and development on these improvements
Aiming only a "niche"
On the contrary, keeping the specificities of the brand and mixing them to improvements, is the best way to gain new markets (saving the existant)

I would say a small and light camera.
about Ibis I think Sony a7II has it,
I am sure Pentax (Ricoh) is capable of producing such a camera, wr, long last battery, nice colours dynamics.
I am convinced the future is for small cameras that you can hold with you all the day long (see smartphones that can almost compare apsc under daylight)

Hello ! I share here my point of view :

1- I was almost to buy a Sony Alpha 7II (800 €) during Black Friday. I want an access to FF, but not at any price !
2- I would like a tiny size FF camera (like the sony), and only Mirrorless can offer that
3- I don't want a FF camera that I couldn't use under bad weather or wet weather (so that I didn't purchase the Sony)
4- I fear for the poor battery autonomy of Mirrorless FF
5- I 'd like to stay loyal to the brand

IF PENTAX MADE A STRONG LITTLE WR MIRRORLESS CAMERA, WITH PENTAX IQ AND COLOURS, I WOULD BE A SERIOUS CANDIDATE TO A POSSIBLE NEW PURCHASE !

Thanks

I got two M42 lenses with pin. Two solutions : either you open the back of the lens to fix the pin in inside position (tutorials for Helios 44M) or the "kippon" ring with inside flange (my favourite option), it works fine. When closing the aperture ring, brightness decreases in the viewfinder as well ...
