I am on my second one as well. My white one has a stuck shutter so I picked up a black one with less than 1000 clicks!
Ergonomically this is one of my favorite cameras. I don't have any trouble with the controls and once set up it works great for me. It just feels to me. Though not the latest sensor or technology I love the pics I get out of it.
Not my only Pentax but I still use it. I take it on trips as a backup to my DSLR.

Hi all.
I live in San Francisco and there are absolutely no Pentax dealers in the whole bay area! I am thinking of getting a k-70 to replace the k-3 I just picked up. I like the sensor but I prefer smaller cameras. They say it is not much bigger than a K-5iis, which I also have, but I find the K-5 much more comfortable.
However, I really need to feel what the camera feels like in my hand. Everyone raves about the K-3 but I am not satisfied. I just went through this with my Fujifilm x series. It was between the Xe3 or the xt20. I hated the xt20 and fell in love with the xe3.
So if someone is able to meet me somewhere where I can try the camera for a 15minutes I would appreciate it. PM me directly or response to the forum and I will PM you.
I will buy you a cup of coffee and a pastry :-)

Thanks. Decided to pick up another one for under 200. I tried to call presion but no answer. I wanted to speak to someone first before I spent another 25 to ship it out and another to ship it back fixed or not. May decide to fix it anyway but at this point it is bricked. Sad as it only had 6000+ shutter count.

Hi Again. so I sent my camera to one of the repair places listed on this site. Apparently no one can get parts for this except Precision Camera and I am not sure about them either. So I have a dilemma here. Send it to Precision or just pick up another one. I don't need it. I have 4 other digital bodies but in looking at the photos i took with it there is just something I like about them. And I do love using it.
Has anyone had a stuck shutter fixed? if so, what was the cost or what was needed? Thanks!

Thanks!!!! Checked it myself and it is the shutter. I don't think I am going to try and pry it open. Too ham-fisted for that but I at least can tell the repair place what is wrong. Happy new year!

Thanks for your responses. Add two pics. One show the display in back. The other the lens opening to the shutter. Is the shutter stuck open? If so, any quick fixes?

Hi all
Don't post much these days but I am having an issue with my K-01 and have not seen anyone else with this issue. Or I missed it? My K-01's screen is black when trying to take a picture. Screen is fine in menu and playback mode. If I take a pic it is black.
I called a repair place and they suggested over exposing the picture to see if anything at all shows. They think it might be the aperture locking issue but I have not heard of that with a K-01. Anyway, overexposing does not have any effect. All black.
Anyone else have this issue? If so, what was the cause? I don't use my K-01 as much as I use to but still like it. Question is do I get another one, repair this or do nothing as I have more cameras than I need.

Yes, same here. On the same Easter Sunday we took a long walk and ended up in this section of more modern homes, a school and some stores not open. Definitely where people actually lived. Came around the corner and found the car park and a Shipping/boat/water taxi stop.
Your Venice pics are great. I recognize the some of the places and I even have the some of the same shots. My wife took a picture of the the dragon.

It was pretty nice once we got away from the people. We had a nice time in spite of that. Recommend the free walking tour to see less traveled. Areas

Film camera with Diopter? PZ1P, ZX5n, Olympus OM4? These are the ones I have but there are probably others. Pentax ME Super and Minolta X700 don't have them but their viewfinders are big, bright and clear.

Thanks! I checked Target and they only have them in two stores both 40-50 miles away. San Jose is not too far so I might be able to do that on a Saturday afternoon. I am in Marin on Saturday so I can check the Petaluma store.
It is amazing that I live in the biggest city in the area, SF, and pentax can't get there gear in store there. Fry's use to have them but no more. Now a Nikon/Canon/Sony shop.

Hi all
I live in the SF bay area and believe it or not there is absolutely no place anywhere that I have found that carries Pentax DSLR cameras! I purchased all my Pentax digital cameras (k30,k-r,k-x,k01) site unseen and have have found them to be exactly what I wanted. Until now.
I just purchased a k30 from a fellow forum member and it is a great camera but something bugs me about it. I chose the K30 because it is different just like the K01 was. I fell in love immediately with the K01 and figured it would be the same with the k30. But sometimes different is not better. I really liked the feel of the k-x and k-r in my hand but the K30 feels different. I know I can get use to it but based on the photos I am thinking the K50 would be a better choice for me.
BUT there is no place to try it out to see! So I have a request. Does any one have a k50 and is within 30 miles of San Francisco and would be willing to meet someplace to let me see how it feels I would greatly appreciate it. I work in San Carlos and live in SF and am often in Marin.
Anyway PM me if you would be will to meet. I can buy you a cup of coffee and a pastry :)

I upgraded my camera so have this wonderful Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) Pentax K-R. Affectionately known as the Storm Trooper camera, I have this for a few years but it only has 7,292 shutter activations (Shutter rated for 100,000). Everything works perfectly and it is in very good to excellent condition. The only flaw I found was the rear screen has a slight flaw on the left side. See pics. Not visible when the screen is on.
Specs below. This camera has traveled with me all over Italy twice without a hiccup! Great low light performance.
In some ways I like this camera better than my k-30. It is smaller and lighter and has less buttons so I find it a bit easier to use.
