That's strange - I wonder what could have caused problems with K-3. Meanwhile, have a good time with Canon:)

Yongnuo YN560IV + RF603IIC problem

What does it happen after first shot? Is anything changing on the display? What about flash mounted on the camera? Do you observe the same problem? If the flash in fact enters sleep mode, you should see blinking 'SE' letters and blinking 'pilot' lamp. 'Group' and 'channel' are irrelevant here - group is used by 'intelligent' controllers (like 560 IV itself in TX mode), while incorrect channel would disable communication completely. Transmitter itself does not have standby mode, red light on the right should come on when the signal to flash is sent.

The flash will ignore any signals from 603 in this combination:/ Let us know, please, if reset helps.

In S1/S2 the flash ignores radio transmitter. I've just checked the same combo, and half press only lights blue connection control LED on the body of the flash. Could you take pictures of the screen of the flash? I wonder how it looks like when this strange 'sleep mode' is on. Have tried to trigger the flash without connecting the trigger to the camera?

Pentax LX ASA Dial

This is the key question - I've checked my LX and similarly to Super Program it does not allow for compensation beyond original ISO range. For example at ISO 6 I can only set 1x - 0,25x compensation, 1x - 4x range is blocked.

I second this: so far virtually all camera manufacturers (with exception of Sony) seem to ignore the fact that modern cameras are actually specialized image processing computers. What about operating system for cameras? Ricoh could be the first manufacturer offering such novel approach. Project Lantern has been providing something similar, but this is not official Canon software.

Another question: what about true wireless flash system? In my opinion even budget radio systems (like Yongnuo which I use) are superior in terms of range and reliability to optical ones, and Ricoh could consider K-1 III 'Flash Commander' version:)

Good to know you will have second helper to step in in crucial moments:) As others mentioned, longer zoom is definitely worth of consideration, I used Tamron 70-200/2.8 (indoors) and results were very good. During your practice on 'people' you may try 55-300 to see how it performs as portrait lens - I know it's pretty slow, especially at long end, but may turn out to be useful. Last, but not least, you can borrow (or buy) film camera, and pair it with FA 50.

Don't you think you should rather take part in the ceremony and enjoy the wedding? Someone else can take pictures. As per gear, I did similar gig with K-S2 and 18-135, newly-weds were very satisfied with results. Of course every excuse is good to buy K-1:)

Thanks for sharing. The kit seems to be pricey (GBP 15? for single 120 film), but in some scenarios its use may make sense.

You may find diagnostic procedure here. I had similar problem with my K-S2, and as far as I know aperture block is related to age of the camera, not shutter count.

Have you considered a bracket? The transmitter would fire flash, and the flash itself would be further from optical axis of the lens.

When I was on photo trip in a forest last year I regretted I had no battery grip - it was not particularly cold (-10 degrees or so), but it was snowing, creating an opportunity for (frozen) water to get into camera when changing batteries. Everything ended well, though.

Exactly, but the zoom goes to 80 mm, and this is different story. With extension tubes OP could play a little bit and see how magnification and MFD work, and then decide on what to do next. 35mm and extension tube combo is good only when you want to touch the subject with the lens:)

This is pseudo-macro available in many zooms, and in terms of IQ and magnification it has nothing to do with any dedicated macro lens. However, you can pair it with extension tube (cheap and convenient way to turn ordinary lens into macro one) to experiment and see whether such focal lengths work for you.

Is it my imagination that photo files loose sharpness going from camera to computer?

Virtually every picture seems to be sharp when viewed on camera screen. The reason is simple - as others said, camera shows sharpened jpg, and you look at it on very small screen. As result if an edge is soft and smeared over ten pixels in RAW, it may seem to be sharp and one pixel wide on camera screen.

I use F 100/2.8, sometimes also M 50/4 (both macro), albeit the latter offers only 1:2 reproduction rate. Both are relatively cheap, and because I use manual (i.e. cheaper one without P-TTL) macro flash, support for flash metering is irrelevant. In the past I was considering DFA 100 WR, but it does not work with bellows. On the other hand, while in the field WR lens is definitely an advantage.

I have noticed terrible performance drop of new version of Luminar, what is probably related to its asset management system. Yesterday when I was working on single photo (yes, only one), Luminar crashed because it 'run out of memory'. It happened on the computer with 32GB of RAM, Luminar itself was occupying around 16GB.

In-Body vs. In-Lens stabilisation - pro's and con's?

I compared ILS in Sigma 150-500 with IBIS in K-S2 and K-1, and the ILS turned out to be slightly more effective, probably due to being tuned up to specific lens. The difference was minimal, but I decided to create separate user settings just for Bigma with IBIS turned off. 'Stabilization' of optical viewfinder is nice side effect. As per shorter FLs, I definitely appreciate ability of IBIS to stabilize virtually anything, with exception of old zooms which I do not use anyway.

which teleconverter to use?

I have Tamron 1.4x TC, which is great, and works with in-lens AF motors. Having said that, I really doubt if it would work well with 18-300. The reason is simple: TCs were meant to be used with tele lens, i.e. ones with FL > 50mm (on full frame). Zooms which reach wide angle area (on APS-C < ca. 35mm) are not best candidate for coupling with TCs.

Possible bug in firmware K1 with manual white balance and pixel shift?

Lowest possible manual setting in my Mk1 is 2500K:/ With f.lux installed I was setting such temperature manually only to see correct WB with and without PS. Interestingly, with automatic WB, PS picture was very slightly yellowish. Histograms of pictures set at 2500K and opened in RawTherapee differed slightly depending on whether PS was enabled or not, so it is possible that at least in extreme scenario PS somehow affects WB. Despite such mysterious phenomenon I still have fun with this camera:)
