I am in Melbourne and we have similar issues. There is a Ted's very close to where I live and your experience mirrors mine. That is why I am making this suggestion to create demand. The more people who ring Ted's, the more the staff will want to find out about the camera, and then hopefully they can get one in, put it through its paces and then be in a position to recommend it. That's the plan anyway!

Yes, I was wondering if you could get a housing for the K1? That would be awesome!

This was astounding news to me. It is apparently very common for folk to jump the safety fences and seek that magical Instagram post. Even the day after this happened there were still people doing the same thing. It is just horrific to my mind.

That's one of the benefits of buying Pentax, you get so many choices. Even if you get an M42 mount, you can buy an adapter to connect to the K mount

The DFA 28-105 is a great lens. Very quick to focus, very quiet and really good picture quality. Maybe before you rush in you might consider older lenses, that were originally made for film cameras. There are some good choices available and quite a deal cheaper than the 28-105. And, you could also consider some older primes as well because you will have plenty of cash left over to make more purchases. Having said that, I did get the dfa 28-105 myself and love it

That's quite a dramatic heading but let me explain. I'm making the assumption that you are reading this because you are a Pentax enthusiast. Maybe you even love the brand. Quite a few of us, like me have been using Pentax since we first purchased a Pentax SLR many years ago. With me it was the ME Super, and what a great camera it was!
It has occurred to me that maybe this brand, which we love, might be at the crossroads of existence if the new camera does not sell well. If so, then yes, the future of Pentax is in your hands. But what can you do?
Thanks for asking. I have a cunning plan.
I am suggesting a concerted campaign to raise awareness amongst camera sellers of this new K3ii. How can we do this? Get on the phone and create interest. Ring your local camera shop and start asking questions. When we this camera be in stock? What have you heard about the new Pentax? Am I right in saying that it will be more suitable for sports photographers? What are the test results saying? How much will it cost? Can I order one from you/ What lenses will work best with it? Will the PLM 55-300 be a good match?
Why would this work?
Thanks for asking. It will work because it will put Pentax on the radar. If it is on the radar and the shops have it uppermost on their mind, then they will start recommending Pentax to new customers. New customers are the future of sales because at the moment, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that within the group of current Pentax users we are slowly dwindling away.
What other ideas are there out there I wonder?
Is this pie in the sky or is it worthwhile considering?
What do you think?
I would so love to see Pentax return to its former glory.

I always wondered about that when I first purchased that lens back in 1985 in London. So the next question is, if it isn't a true macro, why are the manufacturers allowed to write macro on the lens? Why are they allowed to put misleading labels on a lens?

Is there not repairer available in Israel? A great pity if so. What about neighboring countries such as Jordan then?

That is encouraging for the long term future of Pentax. Let's hope these folk tend to jump to digital relatively quickly!

Yes, I would also expect that there might be some corrosion. Just concerned a bit though. Would too much vinegar cause more harm than good?

By coincidence I was playing with my model of this flash the other day. I must agree, it is a very complicated flash. What I need is the idiot's guide to how to get started. What are my rules of thumb so that all I have to do is turn it on and know I will get consistent results?. There are buttons everywhere and does it stuff things up if I have a button in the wrong place? What lenses is it compatible with? Oh yes, there is a list somewhere, and does it mean that third party lenses will not work properly?
BTW I ended up deciding to leave it on P-TTL and use the X sync setting on my camera. Seemed to work best.

Ah yes! The diopter, That may well be the source of my issues too. I have a manual focus Samyang 85mm F1.4 and I always find it front focusses. I am absolutely sure my subject is in focus and am constantly disappointed to find a lack of accuracy in my focussing. Maybe, just mayve the diopter is tha cause of my issues. Food for thought indeed

Interesting. I have a similar issue with a Samyang 85mm f1.4. I swear I have focussed correctly but usually find that somehow the lens has actually focussed just in front of my intended focal point. My solution is just to avoid f1.4 like the plague. Not really satisactory though

Goodness me, that is close! I have an old Takumar 50mm f4, but it doesn't get anywhere near that close.

I was wondering about the notion of "pushing" a film, ie shooting say a 400 film at 3200. I heard it was possible, provided it was developed according to the ASA you shot at. Does anyone have ideas on this?

I'm also wondering if a Canon to Pentax converter exists? If so it may open up other lens options to us Pentax folk
