Single in April 2019 - a summary:

I had a ball using the HD Pentax-DA* 50mm F1.4, wide-open for most of the month.

And it wasn't hard, the lens is superbly sharp at nearly all apertures.
Bokeh is pretty nice at most apertures as well.
With the K-1 it pretty much nailed the focus every time.
Micro-contrast is good, colour is neutral, and very little post-processing was required.

Sandy asked for a comparison with the Tokina Opera FF 50mm f1.4 but there was no need, the lenses are identical.

I hope the new Pentax FF DSLR will use the new Sony 60MP sensor - IMX455 or IMX 555(like the forthcoming Nikon DSLR) , these lenses will really shine.

You won't be disappointed with the KP.
It's tiny.
It makes both the K3 and K5 look primitive!

Speculation of FF DSLR the size of KP body, is it possible?

What if it is a mirrorless FF camera, something like the Nikon Z7 or Z6, this is much smaller.

I might stay onboard and enjoy the return trip.

Here's a sample taken with my March lens, Vivitar 28mm 1:2.0 MC Close Focus Wide Angle (Komine) - It's a manual focus A lens from the 70's

Here's a quoted review:
"Ok, so what's the verdict?

This is really an outstanding lens. The close focus is remarkably useful and, combining that with f/2 and a decent OOF PSF, this lens can produce bokeh that are way better than most 28mm lenses can deliver.
Where things are in focus, they're sharp -- even wide open. Stopping down even a little improves the already-modest vignetting, and immediately improves both contrast and colors.
Colors aren't bad even wide open, but they get a little more accurate and slightly colder when stopped down. Distortion is minimal, and I really don't see any flare problems either."

I don't know what Adam has done, but since changing servers, PentaxForums is very sluggish "down-under". Lots of lag, slow to load pages etc.
I'm not usually a big commenter on shots, but it is now quite Painful to view everyone's shots, let alone post comments.

I'm really sorry, I want to, but I just can't participate for a while.
I might be able to post a few shots, but am unable to commit to an everyday shot.

Have fun everyone, I will be watching when I can.

Sandy says "The 85/1.4 lenses on the other hand are MUCH bigger and heavier, and in reality the need for such a thin depth of field is a very small niche and requires great expertise."
Sounds like a challenge to me...
Sigma 85mm f1.4 is my choice for the month.

After a disappointing month with my Tokina 17mm (mainly due to weather, family issues and extreme work pressure (== laziness)), I will try to do a full month in August. K-1 needs more exercise. My Sigma lenses are all fixed now (24-70/2.8, 35/1.4, 85/1.4 and the Bigma), I think I will go with the 24-70/2.8, and maybe if someone else is using the new Pentax 24-70, we can do some comparisons. I'm open to requests though, but please, we are lacking good light, the Bigma would be better suited to Spring, Summer or Autumn....

I sent off my 35/1.4 Art, and 85mm/1.4 DG HSM, and got them both back within 1 week (Australia). Problem solved, and both work better on the K-1 than they ever did on the K-3.
Now waiting for 24-70 and 50-500 to come back. :)

Received my modded Sigma 35 and Sigma 85 lenses from CRK today. Going to drop off the 24-70 and the Bigma next!
If it's OK with members, I will complete the month with the Sigma 35 on my K-1 body?

The original Sigma bases had a small bevel, they weren't square. Looking at the above photo, the bevel is much more pronounced after modification. :)

I'm sure that Sigma designed these lenses with the ability for the lens mount to be changed from say Pentax to Nikon or Canon.
The "oversized" mount flange (on Pentax) is just the right size for mounting on the other brands. I have the 35/1.4 for both Pentax and Nikon, and thats how I noticed this.

I have emailed the Australian distributor for Sigma lenses (they are also the AU. distributor for Pentax cameras) and asked them about having the Sigma lenses modified for the K-1 and as yet they haven't responded. I'll keep PF informed, but I don't hold any high hopes...

PS - There's a new announcement on the Sigma web site - the repair process is on hold until the end of July!

Yep, thanks, and I couldn't agree more.

I dug out an old Pentax FA 28-105 (the rebranded Tamron made one), and the IQ is just super.
Ditto for Pentax F35-70, and Tokina AT-X Pro 20-35mm f2.8.

I'm very glad to be back.

My uninspired shot of the oranges from June 1 made it into Explore. Now I've seen everything!
