Pentax 645/D/Z accessories list and availability?

This accessory thing has me thinking: Of the eight 645 lenses I own for my 645D, six are MF. I dearly need the discontinued split screen focusing screen. I missed a few on ebay. I wonder why Pentax does not re-introduce it? If I had to guess, why would they make it EASIER, and MORE POSITIVE to focus discontinued MF lenses? They would rather us buy current AF lenses I guess. If anyone has a 645N split screen let me know.
Thanks

I just purchased a used 400mm FA 5.6 on ebay from KEH. I have dealt with KEH before, and they are reliable. I will report here the results, but the reviews I have found on the internet have all been favorable.
Thanks again

Thanks for the info. The crop looks very sharp. I just purchased the 67 500mm f5.6 and 67 1.4X and the combination is not as sharp as I would like. I may look into the 645 400 f5.6.
Best of luck; nice shot.

Pentax 645 400mm f5.6 FA and 1.4X?

The 645 1.4X extender is stated to be made for the 300mm f4 manual focus lens (I have both). Does anyone know if it will work with the 400mm FA f5.6 lens (in manual focus mode, of course)
Thanks in advance

Thanks all. I hope this works. I purchased on eBay the 500 mm f5.6 and 1.4 X extender to use with an adapter on a 645D. I know a 500 mm lens is a 500mm lens, but this lens was designed to cover a 6x7 negative. I will be essentially "cropping" the center with the 645D. What would be the "crop factor" ? In other words, what would the equivalent focal length be?
Thanks
Dave
PS: will let you know how this works out....my intention is to try this combo for wading birds.

Tom: I paid $930 for the lens in 9 out of 10 condition (have not received it yet). I plan on using the 500 and maybe the 1.4X with a Pentax adapter, and 645D
Regards and thanks all.

This grey 1.4X is listed on ebay, but not in the data base. Anyone know anything about it? Which lenses will it fit? I just purcheased a 500mm f5.6 67 lens, and was wondering if it would fit.
Thanks in advance. Here is the ebay link:

I use the Pearstone hood with the 645D, where there is, indeed, a crop factor. It my vignette on a film camera. I have no way of checking.

I use the 35mm A manual focus lens often. Here is the hood I use. It is a 77mm tulip clip on, does not vignette, even when used with a UV filter. Brand name Pearstone from B&H. Highly recommendeed

Lens correction for your A-lenses in Lightroom

Hi: In Photoshop, I choose the FA counterpart. I know the lens formulas changed from 35mm A to FA, but the FA profile seems to work. Same for 75mm A, since the A and FA are same formula.
Hope this is helpful.

Pentax 645 A150mm F/3.5 or FA 200mm with 645D?

Hi Smolk: Digiloyd did not test the 150A fully, but he did a side by side comparison test of the 150A and the 80-160 FA at the 150mm setting. His findings on the 645D are quoted below:

Conclusions

The 80-160 is visibly inferior to the 150mm f/3.5 prime lens. I would not consider it worth using on the Pentax 645D, at least not at the 150mm mark as tested here. However, it performs much better at the 80mm and 120mm settings.

Pentax 645 A150mm F/3.5 or FA 200mm with 645D?

On Diglloyd's paid site (he is very good at evaluating and testing equipment), he had this to say about the A200 (and I quote him):
Conclusions

Providing you focus it carefully, the Pentax-A 200mm f/4 offers very consistent sharpness across the frame at f/4, reaching optimal performance at f/5.6. Given its compact size, this is definitely a lens worth having for the 645D.
I have one and also a 15oA. I like them both.

I also have the 300mm A lens, along with 10 other MF and AF 645 lenses. One lens I bought as "New Old Stock" came with the official 645 lens instruction book, which covers all the MF lens offered at the time. It states that (actual quote): "powerful telephotos SMC A645 300mm f4 ED (IF), and SMC A645 600mm f5.6 ED (IF)" are specially designed to rotate slightly past infinity. The reason given is to allow for temperature conditions such hot and cold weather.
BTW it is a lovely lens, and so is the matched 1.4X converter which I found as new old stock. I use them on a 645D.
Good luck

Pentax 645 to Nikon 35mm adapter?

Dave: Here is the Rainbowimaging adapter. I put an arrow pointing to what "looks like" the lever to close down the diaphragm. Looking at the back of one of my 645 lenses, and where the lens lever is, this adapter lever looks to be in the correct location to do what we want. For 40 bucks, I may just take a chance on it. I have a half dozen of their various adapters for my NEX 7 and the quality/workmanship are "OK" but they all work and focus to infinity.
Good luck

Tale of 2 Camera Extremes: 645D & NEX7

NEX7 and Pentax 645D experience today:

Today was one of those magical days here on Long Beach Island, NJ. Yesterday/Last night was stormy; typically, next day we get blue sky, with a bunch of lovely, fast moving clouds. They start over the main land, blow over the bay, reach the island and sometimes do not dissipate over the ocean (most times they do). Today was such a day. I grabbed by Pentax 645D with 35mmA, 75mmA, and 120 Macro (also manual focus version). I only used the 35mm. Camera on tripod, mirror lock up, manual exposure, circular polarizer. Mirror lock is a breeze: turn a switch on the body. Setting ISO, shutter speed and F stop likewise a breeze. I have been doing it for 55 years. I have not processed the images yet, but think I have some keepers. I also took the NEX7 with 4 lenses, but only used the Zeiss 24mm f1.8. The others stayed in the trunk of the car. I put it around my neck to make any "grab shots" that I may encounter. There were several opportunities to use it. Beautiful sky, beach, waves, and a man came along walking his tiny daughter (with a RED coat). There were several more opportunities to use the NEX. I wish I could tell you I had a good experience. I did not. First trying to view through the finder and rotate the polarizer to see the affect is impossible for a left eyed shooter. Several shots were screwed up, because I wanted to shoot at f13, and they ended up at F20 and F22...the dial changes too easy. Then several more were screwed up (happened 3 times): I grabbed a quick shot, and the ISO changed from 200 to 16,000!!! For left eyed shooters, my nose must rub the round dial on back that changes ISO. It is MUCH too free spinning. My next adventure with this camera, I plan on bringing masking tape and taping all the dials. The final problem, is that towards the end of the day, I must have turned a dial, or pushed a button that turned on the big distracting level in the viewfinder. I sat in the car for 15 minutes going through endless menues trying to turn the GD thing "off". I still have not found it.
Thank God for my 645D and Sony A900.
Good luck to all and good shooting!

Thanks. What makes the picture so unusual is that this is the bay (normally calm) not the ocean!
Thanks again for the kind words
