The matching hood is MH-RBC67
I believe PH-RBC67 is for 645 45/2.8, a wide lens

Controversial Opinion: Sony Was Right And We Were Wrong...

If I remember correctly, Ricoh has a patent about adding an AF sensor at the light path of viewfinder, to achieve continuous PDAF... Correct me if I was wrong.

Anyway, I agree with you: I like the EVF on mirror-less camera. I actually love it. But that is because I use MF old lenses on them only. I have > 50 old lenses that won't work on SLR but are great for A7ii, but I don't have a single AF FF lens for E mount. EVF is such a big plus for MF.

in terms of SLT, I own A77 and am still using it. Not a very good idea in fact: the reflector membrane is so thin and fragile, even the air blaster might cause some distortion on it and I am afraid it will affect the AF performance. low light noise is really an issue.

I hope Pentax can use a Hybrid Viewfinder as Fuji.

Not everyone likes mirror lens, but some others love them.

And this Tamron 55b is one of the best. $120 is a very good price if the glass and mirror are clean.

I am not alone in my neighborhood: I managed 2 workshop (kind of) in the community center a few years ago. I used pentax cameras (k20d and k7) in the classes. At least 5 of them bought Pentax after :).

Maybe he meant "quick shift" system?

I will suggest to clean to SDM connectors a little bit. or maybe take it off, bent the metal pice a little to make better connection?

Broken gear in autofocus

I contacted a friend in Japan and asked if he could get the gear from the store. Mailing a camera back and forth cost quite a lot. And I know I can fix it if I have the part.
If he can buy one, I will post here to see in case anyone else need it.

Thank you for the suggestion. This is a great idea! I am not sure if I can find anyone to help modeling the gear, but this is definitely an option!
I always think: there should be a software that if you connect a camera and scan (take a panoramic video) the objectives, you can get the 3-D models automatically. All you need to do is fine tune the details, such as size. It will dramatically increase the usage (and sale) of 3-D printer.
3-D modeling is not an easy job for regular users.

Monopods: Goodbye Oben CTM-2500, hello Gitzo GM2562T

I managed to wear out 2 monopod in ~4 years :)....
by using them as walking sticks mostly.
I have a handle bar that can be screwed onto the monopod and convert it into a nice walking stick. Of course I bought cheaper monopods. as walking sticks, they don't need to be extended long, so even cheap ones are stable enough.
I used them in water, mud, in a battle with a snake.
Only when I need a monopod, I put the small ball-head on.
This is now my standard outdoor hiking equipment.

GR III vs KP Image Quality

Comparing GR with a zoom lens on KP is not fair for KP.
GR's lens is one of the best at this FL, you have to spend $$$$ to get one for ANY mount.
If you can mount such a lens on KP, I guess you can get close image as from GR.

Still, GR's lens is fixed, so GR can customize everything according this lens, interchangeable lenses don't have such benefit.

But at least you can shoot at 35, 50, 85 and 135mm from DA 18-135, while GRs can't :)

You rotate your camera with your lens, right?
In fact, the baffle on the rear end of some lenses are rectangle.

at least the lens is still round, not oval shape.
BTW, actually oval lenses make perfect sense: the sensors are not square anyway!

A quick trip to Austin but...

welcome to Austin!
You are going to see the best time of Austin. Wide flowers are blooming and the ground is covered by all kinds of color!
I think your gear should serve you well at Austin, unless you want to visit the capitol building or the caves nearby, then you might need a wider lens; You might want a wide lens at the riverwalk at San Antonio; or you might need a macro lens if you like filming the details of flowers. Otherwise, maybe FA 77 for portrait of/with your girl?
A HSS flash helps if you want to do environmental portraits, sunlight is strong and harsh.
Enjoy your trip!

DFA* 50mm f1.4 repair not offered by Precision Camera

When I had to get my K1 serviced, it was not on the drop off list. I was suggested to call precision and they sent me a PDF form where I manually put the information.
Even if precision does not have any parts for the repair, they need to contact Ricoh to get the parts. Saying sorry and no is very unprofessional.

My camera just stopped working

I will guess it is another case of aperture motor failure. The aperture is closed to minimum when mounted, so the camera could not focus and refuses to take photos.
You can check the aperture of the lens on camera. It should be wide open. I guess yours is closed.
Or, set the camera to MF, M model, you might be able to take a dark picture.
Or, go outdoor, set the camera at AV and turn the aperture to F22, and you might be able to take a picture.

It is so sad to see one of the best Pentax zoom lenses can only be sold at such a low price -- good for buyer, of course, but sad for Pentax, and for owners.

FA 20 internal haze
Posted By grahame
Replies: 13

Can you tell if the haze occurs on element in front of aperture or behind (closer to mount)? The lens uses a lot of complicated elements but the only glued group is right behind aperture.
I hope the haze is on somewhere else, which means it is cleanable. If it is cement separation, it will be very hard to correct.

KEH is getting worse and worse. My 2 most recent lenses I bought from them were all returned. Luckily I found the issue right after I received them. One has separation, one has suck aperture lever, both are easy to find but they missed. The only thing still good is return policy, but processing and refunding are getting much slower. I returned the lens before Christmas and they still didn't refund me.

Sorry for the bad news, and I hope the lens can be cleaned.

Anyone use a Nikon F or S mount to Pentax K mount adapter for manual or AF/AE lenses?

I changed the mount on a Sigma 100-300/4 Nikon lens. The chip and/or the motor was completely dead on it, and my D300s wouldn't take a photo even manual focused and camera set at M.
Simply took off the original mount and put on a M-42-K adapter. I got a nice MF Sigma 100-300. It mounts like K lenses but allows stop down metering like M42 lenses. I use Av model and got accurate exposure.
I sometime put a 1.7x AFA adapter and use it in semi-AF way. Works well if light is good.

You will have to find a unit as same size and shape. Otherwise the focusing screen and viewfinder will not be aligned. And be careful about the exposure light sensor.

3 Lensbaby Lenses - All 75% Off!

Mistake happens. Its good if they can honor the price, its OK if they don't want to.
It bothers me that they even do not want to to send an email to notify the cancelation and at least say sorry.

Like I said, I bought other optic parts for the lens. Luckily I found it myself that the order was canceled, so I can contact seller to cancel my purchase -- but that eBay seller will have to relist it.

It is a bad business.

It also means their "backorder" excuse is not true. they still have the lens in stock, just don't want to sell them at this price.

Thank you for the advice. But I will not bother and will not buy from them anymore -- they didn't even bother sending an email to tell me the order was canceled, let along a "sorry". What shall I expect?
Last time I bought a Rokinon 50 1.2 NEX mount from them, and got a EOS-M mount lens in the NEX box! it means they opened the boxes and misplaced the lenses, and still sold them as new!
Luckily the ebay seller was nice, canceled my 35 optic order.
