Problems Focusing on Infinity with K-70

Focus at long distances with low light and smallish apertures can be tricky.
I tend to use live view AF for long distance shots of still subjects, for better focus accuracy.

Weird sensor shake during / just after exposure
Posted By Tigs

Hi,

Yes, it happens with every way of triggering exposure that I have tried (haven't tried remote). I have also noticed it happens when flipping mirror up for sensor cleaning.

I've tried playing with dust removal settings and no luck.

On closer inspection of the problem one side of the sensor moves up and down in a repetitive pattern.
If anyone has ever heard of this problem please let me know.
Thanks

Ibis vs OS on Sigma 50-500 and Pentax k-70

My conclusion is that at 500mm Sigma OS is significantly better at correcting camera shake than IBIS. With OS I am happy to use twice as slow exposures than IBIS.

A downside I feel is that OS is only active during a few seconds after clicking the focus button. Then you have to click again.

Thanks

This started happening with a K-50, is it a common problem and is there a fix?

The sensor shakes strongly in a consistent pattern. I've tried firmware update, changing settings but still no fix.

Thanks

Thanks for your comments. The photos resulted from a lot of luck and persistence. Still so much to improve to achieve consistently good results.

Thank you all.

Ill do some tests once I receive the lens lens this week, including how both systems compare on a monopod using typical shutter speeds.

I am about to receive a Bigma and would like to know about the effectiveness of the OS vs Ibis on the k-70, especially between 300 and 500mm FL.

Has anyone tested this on the k-70 or on a camera with the same ibis system?

Also, Is Pentax IBIS able to aid OS using the additional two axis stabilisation, the way some other camera systems do?

Tokina 400mm f5.6 AT-X

Although it took that shot, it is actually an old and not so sharp lens. I have since sold it.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

At slow shutter speeds, SR with monopod sounds like a good option, I have tested and compared the combination. Your mileage may vary.

How sharp the old SMC lenses are for the K1?

My understanding is that more pixels per unit area (typically APS-C) tend to amplify optical imperfections such as CA and softness. On the other hand there are full frame lenses that are significantly sharper on the center vs the corners so they work well on crop sensors (APS-C) displaying good sharpness (and less vignetting).

I have a Tokina 400mm f5.6 ATX AF that sits a bit loose on the camera mount (rotates very slightly)
Is there a way to make it tighter when inserted?

Thanks

My impression is that modern zoom and wide angle lenses do not compare as well as to modern lenses.

Pentax lenses with a mirrorless camera

I do not think it is fair to use an eight year old consumer grade camera as a reference point for comparison.

- Both EVFs and OVFs usually have diopter correction
- An OVF is not compatible with focus peaking
- An OVF does not magnify at the turn of the focus ring.
- An OVF does not stay equally bright when the environment light dims
- The back screen is more reflective and harder to read than an EVF when the surround environment is very bright (eg: with sun light)

- Most modern Mirrorless cameras have very high resolution EVFs
- Most people prefer to photograph looking at the VF vs Back screen
