I am shooting in Raw but photoshop doesn't automatically take away the dots. What I attached to the first post is a raw file (turned TIFF) in photoshop. Is there something I have to ask photoshop to do. I checked my camera and the noise reduction wasn't actually on (stupidly) so I hope this makes all the difference.

Thanks for your help. I will change my noise reduction to strong and if this doesn't work I will keep a look out for the firmware to get rid of this. I "know" it's not dust because it only shows up during long exposures. It is a real disapointment to zoom into an image and see those spots and know I have to spend time getting rid of them in photoshop sinse I can't usually reshoot.
Thanks again,
Angela

I do have the K10. How do I go about doing the "dark frame subtraction"? I have done a sensor cleaning by doing it through the camera functions. I don't have any white dots when I do a shorter exposure. It only seems to happen when I do exposures of say around a minute.

Hi all,
I am a new digital camera user. I shoot a lot of long exposures under poor lighting conditions and I have noticed, when zooming into an image on my computer, that there are white dots all over it. Is this what is referred to as "noise"? Does anyone have any advice or insight into what to do about this?
