Haha, absolutely agreed. Took the 40mm out over the weekend and it was a pain dealing with the cap!

I'll start looking for some pinch caps.

Also, are you guys using lens filters (UV, for protection) on your limited lenses?

I'm happy to announce I'm the proud owner of a complete set of pentax limited (SMC) prime lenses. Picked them up (used) earlier in December, and can't wait to put them all through some serious paces! :) I always read that the build quality is stupendous, but boy, holding them in you hands really speaks to their outstanding finish and compact nature. My 15mm didn't come with a ltd lens cap so do let me know if anyone knows where to get one relatively cheap :)

I think my LBA has been satiated... for now...

Will do, I sold the DA35mm F2.4 and A50mm 1.7 to make room for the ltds... So I guess it all balances out at the end :p

Nice! So I sold my Tamron 17-50 along with my 35mm and 50mm primes. Goal now is to get a complete set of (used) limited primes (15/21/35/40/70)! :o

Makes sense. I'd like to break down my eventual collection into similar groups as you've noted above (compactness/versatility) though I don't plan to buy another body at this time.

I'll check it out though I'm focused on the limited primes atm :)

The 15 and 70 are definitely the first two on my list.

I'm thinking along the same lines, I'd keep my kit lens and 55-300 HD for any inclement weather and use the primes for just about everything else.

Indeed, your advice is greatly appreciated. I don't shoot anything in particular at the moment so I guess my goal is to assemble a versatile kit (bearing in mind that I like shooting with primes) to quell my LBA

I am leaning towards selling the Tamron and 35 and keeping the Sigma (recent purchase) and 50 (wont get much for it). The 21 is very tempting as well though my Sigma covers off 18-35.

The 35 macro is also very tempting but I like the compactness of the 40, which isn't too far off in terms of FOV. In terms of photo quality, is there a significant difference between the two?

The 15 and 70 are definitely the first two I will purchase :)

So if I go with the suggestions above, my kit would consist of the following:

18-55/55-300 WR (covers off inclement weather scenarios)
Sigma 18-35
A50 1.7
Limted 15/40/70 or 15/35/70

Oh, the opportunities... :p

Hey all,

I've recently been hit with the LBA bug after purchasing a couple nice lenses (was actually thinking of downsizing at one point). My current kit consists of the following:

K-50
DA 18-55 kit WR
HD DA 55-300 f4-5.8 WR
Sigma 18-35 f1.8
Tamron 17-50 f2.8
DA 35 f.2.4
A50 f1.7

I'm now focusing my attention on adding some compact primes, and am looking at picking up the Pentax limited 15/40/70. Would that be a good way to round out my kit? Would you recommend other primes over the 15/40/70?

Thanks Richard, I figured after reading through some of this thread that this may not be the best place to ask if I'm looking to downsize :p

I'll check out those primes, but hope I don't catch a case of LBA along the way

Hi,

Relative newb here, my current kit consists of:

K50
Pentax DA 18-55 F3.5-5.6 WR
Pentax HD DA 55-300 F4-5.8 WR
Pentax DA 35mm F2.4
Pentax A-50 F1.7
Tamron 17-50 F2.8
Sigma 18-35 F1.8

I'm trying to keep my kit relatively small (6 seems a bit much for me) but hoping to cover off most types of shooting situations. Any advice on what I should add/subtract would be greatly appreciated

!
