Night Some obligatory fireworks photos

Most cities along the Front Range, for very good reasons, cancelled their fireworks this year. Broomfield and a few other places had safe enough places to shoot them off and did so. These were taken from about 1/2 mile away with apertures ranging from f/4.5 to f/8. The images were cropped and the black point was adjusted in Aperture 3.3.

Thinking of jumping ship to CaNikon

While I have no intention of getting rid of my K20 anytime soon there is one reason why (unless there is a major change) why my next system will not be a Pentax. I will not spend almost a months pay on something I cannot hold before buying. I don't buy things until I have the cash to do so (cars and a house included) so all my purchases are thought out well in advance. If Pentax wishes to keep their existing customers they need to have their gear available in places other than B&H and Adorama. I know others feel differently and that the retail issue has been brought up many times but I know I am not alone in my feelings on this matter.

Nature Mostly Eclipsed Moon Setting Over the Front Range

I got this just as the Moon was about to completely move into the umbra but before it set behind the mountains, which means I had a about 3 minutes to work with. I find eclipse photos tough because of the extreme contrast between the area of the Moon in the Earth's shadow and the part still in direct sunlight.

When uncertain, when in doubt; run in circles, scream and shout for a full frame camera.

No solar panels!
No GPS!
No built in bag-carrying robot!
AAAGGGHHH! Geek Rage! Geek Rage! Massive Fail!

It reminds me of the out-of-control rumors on the iPad. By the time it was announced there were those who predicted utter failure if it did not heal the sick and raise the dead.
