I think if they were making it so it would be usable in full frame they would have done so and added a FA tag instead of a DA tag.

The Prism cover is removable so if those like the look with it, keep it on, if not remove it. Options are great.

I'm sure they will announce a couple new products towards the end of the year in tandem with its official 100yr bday, but I don't think it'll have a release date before Christmas

Magnetic North recently has been moving faster away from Canada towards Russia. I think it was around 50-60km per year. Not sure if sky Safari takes that into account as well.

You can buy dedicated dew heaters that work on camera lenses and telescopes for awhile now. I'm not sure how much the grove helps but it certainly is interesting. I would have thought adding a feature like that would make more sense on a ultra wide prime with as much astigmatism and coma dealt with than in a zoom. But I guess we'll see what else shows up on the road map with that feature.

DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 is to have a defog option for astrophotography?

I'd say they are even more popular with telescopes like refractors, as a simple dew shield isn't always enough to prevent dew. Comes down to climate and where you live and image I suppose and how humid it is.

---------- Post added 10-23-18 at 10:23 AM ----------

You would hope that no matter which lens, if they add a defog option, that they make the lens to have low coma and astigmatism

I've never heard that coatings effect coma, I'm under the impression it's purely a optical distortion. Also the op linked to photos taken with the lens wide open and it displays quite a bit of coma. In fact I think it would still be visable in aps-c as well wide open. There are couple posts as well in the lens groups of the 50 displaying it's coma.

Neither was I, it might be great during the day, and for other night time shots like light streaks on a highway ect, but it doesn't handle stars well at all. At least not wide open, which isn't a bad thing if it performs better at f2.8 or 3.5 but I have been having troubles finding samples with those settings. Maybe I'll email Pentax to borrow a copy haha

Maybe I've gotten to picky with some Rokinon lenses having almost no coma/astigmatism for astrophotography, but I think the Pentax/Tokina 50 isn't great at all, at least not wide open. I'd love to see some examples stopped down to f2.8-4

D-FA* 85mm f1.4 also coming

I just posted a link to a image of it's distortions wide open. It's bad enough for stars that I think you would have to stop down to use it on a crop sensor. Which is fine, it's still a great lens, I never said it wasn't, but for astro I don't think it would be good wide open for sure. I haven't seen any posts of it at f2.8 or f3, until then I'll wait. The 15-30 for example is really good performer, and I use that lens, but looking for one around 50-85mm.

I haven't bought it yet as I'm hoping to find examples of the lens stopped down to f2.8-f4 but Lenny has posted a wide open example in the lens clubs group.
