I'll try to get a video up, but I'm currently on vacation with little internet connection. Right now, my settings are as follows:

Recorded Pixels: Full HD(25)
Quality Level: 3 Stars
Sound: On
Cross Processing: Off
Digital Filter: Off
Movie Aperture Control: Fixed
Shake Reduction: On (I've tried it off, no real difference)

Those are all the settings I have control over I believe. I get to it via. Menu>Movie

Pentax K5 II video is soft?

Hey everyone,

I've been experimenting with video recording on my K5 ii, and to my eyes the video is "soft". I have the settings at the highest quality, but it still seems to lack that crispiness that I would get out of my iPhone 6 video. Does this have to do with how the video on the K5 ii is encoded? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance, and Happy Holidays.

K-5 ii weather resistant sealing failure?

Thanks for the input everyone, I just dropped it off at the Pentax national repair centre and the technicians mentioned that water probably trickled through one of the buttons (they are the least protected). Anyway, they are taking a look and hopefully I will get it back by the end of the week.

The lesson learned from all this, try to keep the k-5 ii (and also the k-30) out of the rain, because the buttons may contain defects and are not as weather sealed as they claim.

K-5 ii weather resistant sealing failure?

So after a night in the rice, here's what is happening. The screen is now working, however it seems as if the software is glitching, the camera will randomly focus itself, and beep, the buttons on the back work sporadically, so I am unable to change aperture, shutter speed or iso without something else happening. Also, the button directly above the "ok" button seems to not work at all.

K-5 ii weather resistant sealing failure?

Hey all,

Tonight I was outside shooting some pictures in the rain with my brand new K-5 ii. The rain wasn't too heavy, just a light drizzle, nothing that I was worried about. Anyway, after 15 minutes of shooting, my screen started turning green (at which point I went inside), and a few minutes after that my autofocus stopped working. I am worried that the weather sealing might have failed, although I did not see any water within the lens or the camera (attached was a weather resistant 18-135mm lens). At the moment, both the lens and body are sitting in a mound or rice.

Have any of you ever experienced this before? Is this a fault in my body specifically? Any suggestions?

I should also mention that a red light came on (top right) of the camera body (I don't believe that is normal either).

Thanks for the help, any input would be appreciated.

Hello Pentaxians!

After a couple years of shooting, I am finally ready to expand my selection of lenses, and am hoping to get both a macro lens and a fast lens for some astrophotography. I have done my research and have found the PENTAX-DA★ 16-50mm F2.8 (PENTAX RICOH IMAGING CANADA INC. | smc PENTAX-DA★ 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL[IF] SDM) for some star shots/general shooting, and the PENTAX-D FA Macro 100mm (F2.8http://pentax.ca/en/accessories/lenses/d_fa/dfa_100/index.php) for when I want to get closer up. Are these lenses good quality/well priced options? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an interesting way of doing it, so with the sticky tape, I hold the focus ring where it is as I recompose the shot?

Infinity Focus with 18-135mm lens

Hey everyone,

I recently got a Pentax K5 II, and along with it came a wonderful lens, the "smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL[IF] DC WR" (PENTAX RICOH IMAGING CANADA INC. | smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL[IF] DC WR). Last night, I was attempting some shots of the stars, and was surprised to find no "infinity" symbol present on the lens. Is there a way to properly focus to infinity on the 18-135mm, or do I simply have to look through the view finder in the day, and attempt to set it to infinity by "ear"? Oh, also the focus rings "spins" a full 360 degrees, so there is no place to indicate where it infinity focus might actually be (i.e no friction). Thanks to everyone for the help, it's my first time posting!
