Well, I could put the 18-135 on the K-30 and the 55-300 on the K-r and get the same effect, but I am attempting to travel light. If the 18-250 is still around when I go then I'll just do what I had planned, if not then problem solved.

Well, 3 gone already, but I'm considering bringing the 18-250 on a road trip as my sole lens.

I actually set them lower than those, for the most part. (And keeping the 21). Maybe I got good deals on eBay but I could not charge more than what I paid.

!!! Ah, now we are approaching *no go* territory! I see your point and do agree in theory, and I do realize my K-r and my K-30 are "beginners" cameras and the K-30 is a recent addition (used from KEH) so I haven't fully warmed up to it yet, but I do love my K-r - and honestly, it will not get me enough $ to even begin to be able to buy a KP. I'd have to sell ALL my lenses, or at least the limited ones...

The KP will have to be a wish list item.

All bought from eBay or from marketplace except for 18-55 (kit lens with K-r) and the 50mm 1.4 (original with ME Super).

All are in very good condition, tested and no noticeable defects in photos. Before final sale, I will take lens(es) to local camera store to have them independently inspected for any defects that need to be disclosed.

Contrary to popular demand (for the 21), I might just take the 20-40 and the 21 this weekend on 2 bodies and do a mass photo shoot of whatever piques my interest. If I find that the 21 is just the ticket for much of the shoot, then I'll hold it back... sorry folks!! (But I'll also keep the 20-40).

My website developer says his all time fave lens is a 24 (but he has a full-frame Nikon so ~ 35-40mm in the real world).

Thanks, all of these comments make a lot of sense and I am now convinced to keep the Tam 90 in place of the Pentax 100. And I liked the fact that the 21 was 3.2 but the 20-40 beats that, I think enough people have questioned my sanity on giving that one up, so that moves into the "keep" list.

---------- Post added 08-27-17 at 21:41 ----------

OK, updated list, but still taking advice.

****************

Marketplace candidates:

Pentax 21mm smc DA f/3.2
Pentax 40mm smc DA XS f/2.8 (I know, but I just have never warmed up to this thing)
Asahi Pentax 50mm smc M f/1.4
Pentax 100mm smc-FA f/3.5 with 1:1 diopter
Tamron 18-250mm LD DiII f/3.5-6.3
Pentax 18-55mm smc DAL f/3.5-5.6
Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro f/4-5.6

Keepers:

Pentax 15mm smc DA ED f/4
Pentax 50mm smc DA f/1.8 (used once a year for student photos at work, but nice 1.8 in case I need the light)
Pentax 10-17mm smc DA ED f/3.5-4.5
Pentax 20-40mm smc DA ED f/2.8-4
Pentax 18-135mm smc DA ED f/3.5-5.6
Pentax 55-300mm smc DA ED f/4-5.8
Tamron 90mm AP AF Di f/2.8

Right, I fear that I'll regret dumping the limiteds, so I'll start small with the revised sell list once I take some pictures. Keeping the Tam 90!

Nope, it looks great, came boxed and is the 272e (printed on side) even though EXIF says it is not. But Pentax treats non-Pentax lenses in an often bizarre way in EXIF so I'm not worried.

Yeah, maybe I should be less brand-conscious and go with what works.

This one? Pentax 100mm smc-FA f/3.5

Not plasticy and I do like the 1:1 diopter (which I struggled to find, and got from a nice member here)

Yeah, that is the problem, I ought to just do "one lens per day" shoots and see what I can't live without.

---------- Post added 08-27-17 at 13:50 ----------

Yeah, good idea. I bought the Tam 90 before I got the Pentax 100, but I also snagged the 1:1 diopter for the Pentax 100 so I thought it *might* be better than the Tam.

---------- Post added 08-27-17 at 13:55 ----------

Good choices. As far as macro, I assumed the Pentax was better than the Tam but maybe not, looking at the reviews. (8.8 vs 9.7)

You make a good point, but I really use the 18-135 a lot. And the price of the DA*50-135 is a bit out of reach for me.

---------- Post added 08-27-17 at 10:38 ----------

I've never warmed up to the 40 XS. Not sure why. You make a good point about size in bag though.

---------- Post added 08-27-17 at 10:40 ----------

Yes, I pre-posted this just to see if I was thinking stuff through about overlap and interest. I will make sure I post sale items in the marketplace.

Yes, that is the issue. The 20-40 was nice while I had it on, but it seemed limited in a way. But the WR aspect is a good point- if I just keep that one on the K-30 body all the time, that solves one problem. Big blue weatherproof point and shoot.

Before I post a lot of stuff in the marketplace, figured I'd check over on this side first: I have a lot of lenses (well, I think it is a lot, I suppose some members have way more). There is a lot of overlap. And I tested them all out and only use a few. So it's time to do some housecleaning. Not on eBay, I prefer forum sales.

Anyway, I need to cut down to the minimum I will *actually* use. I would sell for no more than what I paid on eBay or in the forum.

Below is what I have that I rarely if ever use.

Pentax 15mm smc DA ED f/4
Pentax 21mm smc DA f/3.2
Pentax 40mm smc DA XS f/2.8
Asahi Pentax 50mm smc M f/1.4
Tamron 90mm AP AF Di f/2.8
Tamron 18-250mm LD DiII f/3.5-6.3
Pentax 18-55mm smc DAL f/3.5-5.6
Pentax 20-40mm smc DA ED f/2.8-4
Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro f/4-5.6

And these are ones I *do* use so these will be my core keepers:

Pentax 50mm smc DA f/1.8
Pentax 100mm smc-FA f/3.5
Pentax 10-17mm smc DA ED f/3.5-4.5
Pentax 18-135mm smc DA ED f/3.5-5.6
Pentax 55-300mm smc DA ED f/4-5.8

Almost all were impulse items (isn't that how LBA works?) due to praise on this forum (tsk tsk). e.g. yes the 20-40 is a fabulous lens. So are the 15 and 21. But I've used them once or twice and then put away. And I keep the M 50 1.4 out of sentiment but the ME Super is gone.

Looking for advice on which of these (the top list) would be appropriate for the marketplace. I am also wiling to be talked out of selling some due to not thinking through my overlap. The 20-40 in particular. It might be just plain dumb to get rid of that one.

Having unloaded my K-01, all I have left for bodies are my beloved red K-r and my new (used) blue K-30.

Thanks!

A recent thread about camera straps revealed that a lot of the "serious" Pentaxians here rely on the pro-grade straps and other attachment devices available. Nothing wrong with that, if it's important to have quick releases or slings or whatnot.

For those of us who carry the Pentax for fun and want a strap that adds personality to the camera, I recommend a vendor I found on Etsy. She made me 2 straps, one was a custom length and fabric after I got the first one. No quick releases, just a strap, but no one else but me has one like it. They are a perfect fit for my "new" K-01 and my "new" blue K-30. The K-01 I got (with 8 actuations) is not the bumblebee yellow but plain black, so I knew I had to spruce it up a bit. K-01 gets the cow print (appropriate for Wisconsin). The K-30 gets the blue strap, which was made with fabric she offered me from many choices.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass this on and give her a nice review here.
