Are you using live view? I have found the camera seems to slow down when using live view, almost as though it's using a slower shutter speed or there is some sort of delay. Could be my settings but when I am hand holding shots I switch LV off.

K-1 and Video

I have shot a couple short videos for real estate and the quality is appalling, just barley usable for Youtube. Maybe I haven't got the settings all right although it is set to the highest quality. BTW I didn't buy the camera for video and would never have even used it unless asked.

In post, Lightroom to be exact. As a "Fine Art" photographer I always PP my photos to achieve a certain look. I also have to compensate as I don't yet possess any filters. Next purchase hopefully ;)

As a previous Nikon 14-24mm owner, I can honestly say it out performs this well renowned lens and at about a third of the price.

Using the K1 histogram

Been away for 3 days so sorry about the late replies. I haven't had a chance to try it again, although I did notice when changing the aperture in LM that the histogram didn't move. Seems rather odd to me!

I am using the Irix 15mm which is MF, does that make a difference? I certainly couldn't get any reaction from the histogram no matter what I changed.

Using the K1 histogram

I have searched for info on this as well as checked the manual but couldn't find the answer.

Now just to clarify I have never been one to use the LV on any of the cameras I have owned, nor have I ever paid much attention to the histogram.
I happened to be watching some YT vids made by a local landscape photographer using the Nikon D800 (my last camera). I was interested to note that the histogram changed as he altered the exposure or shutter speed (as you would expect) and the changes would be reflected in the LV screen ie the image was darker or lighter accordingly. This technique intrigued me and I thought why not try it.

So I had a look at the K1 histogram and I couldn't get it to emulate the D800, even in manual mode (I use AV mode as I like to make sure the aperture setting is optimised for the lens I am using, note I always shoot on a tripod so shutter speed is not so important).

So here are the questions I couldn't find answers for.

Can this be done on the K1 and if so can someone please enlighten me? (I have probably just missed some settings or something!)

Can the display of the histogram be enlarged/changed?

Checked at the app and it works much better than I imagined. Not sure of I would have a use for it but will see.

Yes I am using the 2 sec delay with the electronic shutter and when the weather improves will get out and about to try it out.

I will have a look at that one. It's not a huge issue as I just use the 2sec delay.

The lens is being sold with a Pentax camera from 1985 so I am assuming a Pentax mount. The ad is gone now however I do know the person so if I bump into him I will ask.

Thanks for info. I suppose the first question should have been what sort of mount would it have, screw or bayonet?

Photo attached.

Saw one of these advertised locally on Facebook for $40AUD. Couldn't find much about it online and was wondering if anyone knew much about this lens? Would be using it on a K1.

Second time out with the Irix 15mm. Light was not the best (mid afternoon) so resorted to black and white. Amazing that with the f2.4 you can achieve out of focus backgrounds. Loving this lens.

Anyone had any success using a remote shutter app for Android? Tried a few but none have worked so far.

Much better with the multi segment AE and I dialed back the exposure to -1.3, maybe a bit too dark so further adjustment will be required.

Having trouble getting use to MF as I have never used one before. What is the best way to set this up so that you get a focus confirmation beep?

Also is there a setting I have missed for the live view screen? Or is it just the worst screen resolution I have ever seen? It looks like everything has a white outline around it as though it's too sharp or something?

I have checked the AE metering and I had center weighted selected, so have now selected multi segment. And there was me thinking I had it all setup correctly! I will give that a go and report back.....

Interesting, maybe it is the lens? (Irix 15mm). I must admit I was surprised to see it.

Firstly I love having the reliable feel of a Pentax back in my hands. Just got to retrain by mind after using Nikon for about 4 years. Hard to get use to all the buttons and controls been in all the RIGHT places!

Only been out for a couple of hours in bad weather so didn't get too many opportunities. I think I have everything setup correctly though, which was the main aim.

One thing I have noticed, having just put the images through Lightroom, is that compared with the D800 the Pentax seems to expose a lot more for the shadows and tends to blow out sky highlights, something that the D800 never did. Dark foregrounds were never an issue with all that information from 36MP to play with.

I am guessing I will have to change my settings, expose for the sky, or buy a CP filter.

But that's the only issue so far, looking forward to getting some more shots.

Just received my Firefly in the post today so have only had time to take some test shots. Have to say it stands up very well against the Nikkor 14-24.

One thing I noticed when putting on the lens hood that the white alignment mark on top of the hood does not line up with the centre of the lens, it sits just off to the right (from behind the camera POV). When I checked out the shots I took I noticed that there was some strange dark vignetting in the right had top corner. It looks like the lens has just caught the edge of the hood in the shot, which of course shouldn't happen. Anyone else experienced this?

PS I carefully examined the hood and noticed several small plastic protrusions, probably from the mould and after removing them with a blade the hood clicked into place. Poor quality control but all good in the end. I have notified Irix.
